Philosophy of Education

When it comes to teaching to me I believe you always have to have an open mind

because there are so many different factors. You may like a certain teaching style but that does

not work for every student, the fairness in the classroom, or even the rules. An important idea in

teaching is that you need to have strong connections with each child in your class for them to be

one hundred percent comfortable and that gives the teacher an advantage to get that child out of

his or her comfort zone so they can succeed.

Ever since starting college I have been changing my mind left and right. But I was really

drawn to teaching. I thought there were things I could learn while being a teacher that I could not

in college and I enjoy taking care of children and seeing them happy. Personally, there was no

one in particular who inspired me to go into teaching. There are a few family members and past

teachers who stood out to me when I was looking at teaching. I used to work at a summer camp

and also babysat from time to time and I realized that I love working with children. As for any

other training, besides taking courses on infants and education I do not have any. But I have a

drive to succeed when it comes to this so I can provide myself and future students with the best

education I can give. I am only beginning my journey to understanding education and school

systems, and this past year I have moved three times. So, I have not taken the time needed to

fully understand the education systems around me.

Education has been one of the longest that follows back. Education lays down the next

generation (and so on) to succeed in helping the world become a better place. My belief is that

education is a necessity for people in general, it is a fundamental for growth. Past events for

rights between women and non white boys have come so far. I am truly thankful we have come

at least that far, I know there are things happening today that are unhealthy for children but I do

like to look at more of the positives.

When I finally become a proper teacher I will do anything in my power for my students. I

think that helping people succeed in life is something that makes me happy. But, I intend to treat

everyone fair, judge them based on who they are as a person, and give equal respect and

attention to each and everyone of my students. I am a student who works better with visuals and

I know that not every student works that way, so I will teach how all my students work best. I

will make an effort to provide the right education. I used to not be as patient as I am now, I have

grown in that department but sometimes I am not patient with small things. I get kids who want

to make each other laugh but if it comes in between their assignments I am not as patient. My

teaching method will allow students to talk to each other because I want them to help and

problem solve together but I know the difference between helping and messing around.

I think a teacher needs to be caring, respectful, enthusiastic, and open minded. These

qualities for me are very important because if a teacher acts like they do not care and they do not

want to be there, their students will adapt to that attitude. I need more courses to achieve my

degree and volunteer experience to see different grade levels. When I did my field observation I

went into a fifth grade class, the kids were wonderful but I think I might want a lower grade

level. There is a ton of stuff I need to do to reach my goal but it takes time and I am not in any

rush.

In conclusion, I still have a lot to do but even when I become a teacher I will continue my

learning because that is a job where you learn new things everyday.
