Purpose and Objectives

As the total enrolment at Trine university continues to grow, we want to be able to

comfortably house and meet all our students’ residential needs. As of now we only have minor

housing issues that are manageable but as enrollment increases, we will need not only more but

better rooms for our students. We are not looking to expand our campus outward so we will need

creative and innovative designs to expand housing space vertically or make our current housing

more space efficient but still comfortable and functional for our students

Project Description

This proposal will focus on the renovation of Reiner’s, Stadium, and Fabiani Hall. These

builds are three of the four main housing for underclassmen. In this renovation we want to create

space to house around 500-600 more people by adding more stories to the existing building. As

of now, Reiner’s and stadium’s room’s house three people while Fabiani’s rooms house 2. For

the project contractors will need to be able to design a creative layout to comfortable maximize

the limited space we have.

Elements of Proposal
The proposal for the renovation of the residential buildings at Trine University must

include the companies’ qualifications to work on residential building. Prior examples of the

companies work renovating existing buildings or construction of new building. 2+ different

possible designs for each building. All contact information needs if chosen as a potential

candidate. A detailed estimate for time and cost of the project, and lastly a list of things you

would need form us to make this project possible.

Evaluation Criteria

The proposal for the renovation of the Trine residential buildings will be evaluated based

on three main elements

5
 Cost

 Time for completion

 Most effective use of space

The cost and time need to complete the project are critical pieces of information because as a

university we would like to limit the final strain of the renovations and keep the price of tuition

as low as we can while still being able to fund the project. Time is also a major factor because

we are working on building our students need to live in so the renovation process would have to

be from may to august which is not a large window for construction. Lastly the creativity of the

design and its ability to improve the lives of our students will be a vital factor in our decision
