ABOUT THE COMPANY

 Chaithra Construction pvt. ltd. was started in the year 2019 in

Chikkamagalore by the Civil engineers who were dreamed to become
Builders and Developers.

INTRODUCTION

 Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the

design ,
construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built
environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams,
airports, sewerage system, pipelines, structural components of buildings
and railways.

 Construction engineering involves planning and execution, transportation of

materials, site development based on hydraulic, environmental, structural
and geotechnical engineering.

 This sub-division of the Civil Engineering is one of the growing branches as

it provides large job opportunities to a large number of people in the
country.

OBJECTIVES

Objectives of the internship:

1. To provide practical knowledge to the students.

2. To mould the students as per companies requirements.

3. To understand the construction methodologies and procedures through live

examples ( on going construction projects).

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

 Safety of all the people at the site is most Important to company. Hence, each
person entering the site will be briefed about the safety requests and preventive
measures to be taken for safe and efficient operation.
 You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of others.

 If you are not trained, don’t do it.

 Use the right tools , equipments and use them in the right way Never wear loose
clothes or slippery foot ware.

 Keep your work area clean.

 Shut down your machine before cleaning, repairing or leaving it.

MARKING OF FOOTING AND COLUMN

 In order to being the trenches required for the foundation we have to

transfer the line and measurements indicated on the plan to the ground.

 A bench mark is selected and fixed with known co-ordinates. Then, the
instrument is set and oriented towards North.

Instruments used for marking are :

 1.Steel tape
 2.Tape
 3.Try square
 4.Sliding bevel
 5.Chalk powder
 6.Steel rods

EARTHWORK EXCAVATION

 Excavation means removing of soil or rock from a building site area to

form a open face of hole using tools and machinery.
 Types of excavation:
1. Cut & fill Excavation
2. Trench Excavation
3. Basement excavation
 Trench dimension 5'×5'
 Sides of the trenches are truly vertical
 Depth of the trenches is 5 feet
 Trenches shall be carried according to the soil conditions

PCC MARKING AND LAYING

PCC(Plain Cement Concrete): is the mixture of cement, fine aggregate(sand) and

coarse aggregate without steel.
 PCC is an important component of a building which is laid on the soil surface to
avoid direct contact of reinforcement of concrete with soil and water.
 The ratio of PCC we have used is 1:4:8 (M7.5)
 Thickness of PCC bed is 6”

REINFORCEMENT

 FOOTING REINFORCEMENT :
 Reinforcement description of footing is the maximum amount vital as site
investigation for the structural design of footing.
 We all recognize that footing is associate degree indivisible a part of
foundation construction.
 They’re engineered by the assistance of concrete with rebar reinforcement.
 Grade of concrete for footing – 1:2.5:3.5

SRI KRISHNA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

 COLUMN REINFORCEMENT:

 The column are separated into two categories:

1. Short columns.
2. Slender columns.
 Two types of reinforcements are arranged in a RCC column:
1. Longitudinal reinforcement.
2. Transverse reinforcement.
 All the columns are designed for ug+g+2floor.
 Grade of steel FE-550
 Grade of concrete for columns = 1:2:3
 Column size 350*400mm

SHUTTERING

 It is a vertical temporary arrangement which is arranged to bring

concrete in a desired shape.
 Formwork which supports vertical arrangement is known as shuttering

DEPT OF CVE 13
SRI KRISHNA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

CURING
 Curing of concrete is done for providing adequate moisture, temperature,
and time to allow the concrete to achieve the desired properties.
 It delays drying shrinkage until the concrete is strong enough to resist shrinkage
cracking
 Types of curing:
 1.Water ponding
 2.Gunny bags
 3.Chemical curing
 4.Membrane curing

CONCLUSION

 The engineers and contractors made me more familiar with site works starting from
communication skill , handling of different site work equipment’s, effective utilization
of manpower and available resources , finishing the work within the time scheduled by
the client.
 This provided me an opportunity to identity , observe and practice and the challenges
faced in site and how engineering is applicable in the real industry . It also provided an
opportunity to interact with the field workers.
 The owner, engineer, contractors and the site workers shared their experience which they
have gained in their journey of work and these are extremely useful to us.
