2FA Activation Procedure

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security beyond just a username and password. It is important because 90% of passwords can be cracked in under six hours, and many people reuse the same password across multiple accounts. To enable 2FA on a Google account, you access the security settings and set up 2FA using either text messages or the Google Authenticator app, which involves scanning a QR code to link the account. This provides an additional code during login for an extra layer of authentication security.

Setup two-factor authentication using your work email

What is 2FA or Two-factor authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is sometimes called multiple factor authentication. In simple
terms, it adds an extra layer of security to every online platform you access. The first layer is
generally a combination of a username and password. Adding one more step of authenticating
your identity makes it harder for an attacker to access your data.
Why is it required?
Passwords have been the mainstream form of authentication since the start of the digital
revolution. But, this security measure is far from infallible. Here are some worrying facts about
this traditional security measure:
• 90% of passwords can be cracked in less than six hours.
• Two-thirds of people use the same password everywhere.
• Sophisticated cyber attackers have the power to test billions of passwords every second.

The vulnerability of passwords is the main reason for requiring and using 2FA.
How do I enable it?
1. Log in to your work email, and click on “Manage your Google Account”.

2. Click on the "Security“ Tab and click on “2-Step Verification”.

3. Click “GET STARTED” button.

4. Re-enter your password.

5. Setup your phone by entering your mobile number.
6. You will receive a 6-digit code sent to your phone. Enter the code and click on”Next”.

7. Click on “TURN ON” to finish.

8. When done, you should be able to see your phone tagged as “Verified”.
