4. Activity 1:
a. Write on board as a model: ‘I think a good place for a holiday is...’, ‘That’s because it’s good for... ‘
b. Pupils think of a good holiday place and give a reason why it’s good.
c. They use the two sentence starters on board to share ideas with a partner.
d. Tell pupils they’re going to be creative.
e. Draw pupils’ attention to the questions. (Activity 1 SB pg 14)
f. In pairs, pupils predict the answers to the questions.
g. Encourage them to use the photos to help them predict the answers.
h. Encourage pupils to start sentences with: ‘I think…’. (Assessment)
i. After predicting, they read the text and check predictions.
Lesson delivery
5. Activity 2:
a. Read through the questions with the class and make sure pupils understand everything.
b. Play the audio CD 1.15.
c. Point out that students need to read and listen to find specific information, e.g. a name or number.
d. Check answers with the class and explain the meaning of oasis.
e. Ask: What helped you to answer the questions? (e.g. photos, numbers)
6. Activity 3:
a. Pupils use an online or paper dictionary to check meaning of 4 or 5 words in blue that they don’t
understand. (DS) (Assessment)
b. Ask pupils: Which four words are adjectives? (fantastic, comfortable, exciting, horrible)
7. Pupils in small groups decide if they think the cruise ship is a good place for a holiday and say why or why
