telling about DAILY ACTIVITY

The Simple Present Tense is used to express


something is true in general, routine actions/
things we do as a habit and general truth
 talk about things in general , e.x : Nurses look after the patients in hospitals.
Suatu hal yang umum terjadi, e.x : perawat merawat pasien)

 habitual actions or daily activities, e.x: I usually go to the market at weekends.


(Suatu kebiasaan atau rutinitas e.x : saya biasanya pergi ke pasar di akhir pekan)

 to say that something is true in general., e.x : The earth goes round the sun
(Suatu kebenaran umum e.x : bumi mengelilingi matahari)

* Some signal words of the Simple Present are:


every…(day / month / week) always, usually, sometimes

* With the 3rd person singular, an “s/es” is added to the verb.

Depending on the verb,


it’s added “S” or “ES”.

John watches TV every evening.


She studies English every day
My mother cooks rice every day

Remember that we say

I work, but he works.


They teach but my sister (She) teaches.
We sing but Rihanna (She) sings.

Don’t forget the –s in 3rd person singular


(e.g., he, she, it, Peter, Jane, My father, etc)

She doesn’t clean her room.
Tono doesn’t work as a doctor.

In the introgative form, it’s necessary


to use the auxiliaries DOES or DO.
*DOES is used for he, she, it
*DO is used for I, You, We, They

E.g.:

 We use simple present with ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY when we say how often we do
things

For ex: In the summer John USUALLY plays tennis.

Thomas and Philip ALWAYS begin their day at 7 o’clock.
She USUALLY plays basketball on Mondays.
Peter OFTEN watches TV at breakfast.
They NEVER go home on weekdays.
We SOMETIMES play football.

 With the verb TO BE we use a different pattern


Pattern: subject + am/is/are+ ADVERB + O/COMP
Thomas and Philip are ALWAYS busy at school.
They are NEVER late for their activities.
He is USUALLY ready for breakfast at 7 o’clock.
We are OFTEN in the music room during the breaks.
James is SOMETIMES tired at the end of the day.
Daily activity

Hello, I am Arina, I am a student, I will tell you about my daily activity


I usually wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning. I never forget to tidy up my
bed and clean it up. Then I take a bath and pray. After that I help my
mother to prepare the breakfast. And then, I have breakfast with my family
in the dining room. We usually have warm tea, milk and fried rice. Then, I
go to school with my friends. I study at school till 1 p.m. I go home, put off
my uniform and have lunch with my mother. After that I pray, watch TV and
take a nap. I always take a bath at 5 p.m. in the afternoon. Then I watch TV
while waiting the time for praying. After I pray, I and my family have lunch
together. And then, I read a book and prepare the lesson for the next
school day. I go to bed at 9 p.m. That’s all my activity starting from waking
up till going to be. Thank you.
