The purpose of this SOP is to provide written guidelines for operating procedure for
operation of Non-viable Particle Counter .

6. Procedure:

7.1 Basic operations:


7.1.1 Initially ensure that, the particle counter unit is fully charged. At the bottom of the display
there is battery status indicator. If it is discharged, charge it by connecting to the power
supply. Do not overcharge the particle counter.
7.1.2 Carry the equipment in the area where count is to be taken.
7.1.3 Before taking the actual reading of the particle count, always do the purging using the
zero-count filter i.e use Blank option.
7.1.4 Press the Power button to ON/OFF the counter which is on the right-side corner of the
control panel and the main ‘Counter Navigation’ screen will be displayed.
7.1.5 Insert thermal paper role through the flap at right side of the display. Before using the
counter make sure printer is inserted.
7.1.6 Different function icons will be displayed on Counter Navigation screen. Table 1 consists of
different functions and their descriptions.
7.1.7 Make sure that Date and Time on the display is matching with the current date and time.

7.2 Functional operations and sampling:


7.2.1 On pressing the Power button, Counter Navigation screen will be displayed with various
screen icons.
7.2.2 To take the particle count i.e sampling, push Sample icon then the screen of different
particle sizes with their cumulative timings will be displayed on left side. In the right side
of the screen Environment and Settings menu will appear. The settings menu consists of
Delay, Hold and Sample time.

7.2.4 Push the Quick Settings menu and enter into the Timing submenu, make changes and
push Enter to finalize the time. By pressing the Return key come to the Sample screen
menu.
7.2.5 On the Sample screen, push the PLUS button to see more locations and MINUS button for
previous locations which are already set in the counter. Accordingly select the location for
the count and then push the green colored RUN button to start the count. Unit will go
initial delay countdown and then starts sampling.
7.2.7 When the count measurement is complete the test will stop automatically.
7.2.8 The print with Date & Time, area & location, flow rate, total volume, sample time and
cumulative count will be obtained automatically.
7.2.9 Check the print carefully and paste on the format no.
7.2.10 From the System menu system settings can be done. Users can be added or removed
from ‘Users’ submenu. Settings in the audible alarms can be carried out from the ‘Sounds’
submenu.
7.2.14 When not in use off the instrument by pressing power key.
7.2.15 Maintain the cleanliness of the instrument by using appropriate cleaning agent.
7.2.16 For cleaning the instrument unplug the power cord, and remove the battery and
disconnect all other cables.

8.0 Calibration:
Calibrate the instrument from outside party yearly.
