Method of Statement (Flooring Tiles)
A. Scope
This Method Statement defines the sequence and describes the control procedures to be followed
for Architectural Finishes – Plastering Works in the project of Military Acadimies – New
Capital.
B. Responsibilities
- Responsible for the entire operation of all works at the site by taking care of quality and
safety requirements.
- He will be responsible for the overall in-charge for the compliance of the work with
project specifications.
- He will be the focal point for the interaction with the Contractor/Client.
- Responsible for the entire operation of Plastering works complying with quality and
safety requirements.
- To ensure that the team of supervisor and foreman are aware of this Method Statement
and all the resources are available to carry out the work as planned.
- Ensure the construction HSE plan, procedures, and instructions are strictly implemented
at the workplace.
- To ensure housekeeping at all times during the course of the work.
- Report near misses, injuries, and accident/incident cases.
- Responsibility includes safety risk assessment for every job or task which has the
potential for harm, ensure all PPE is available with the workmen, all required equipment's
& tool shall be checked, inspected and color-coded before the start of work for suitability
and integrity, good housekeeping shall be maintained in the duration of work and site
shall be cleaned after completion of work.
- To ensure housekeeping at all times during the course of the work.
- Necessary safety instructions are to be provided to the crew based on the site's live
condition.
- Responsible for inspections in coordination with the consultant and monitoring the
execution to confirm, it complies with the approved procedure and contractor
specification.
- Determine and report any non-conformance and recommended corrective actions.
- Ensure that all personnel is aware of the quality requirement. Training of relevant
personnel.

D. Mortar Mix
Cement mortar shall be prepared by mixing 1 m3 of aggregates, 300 kg Cement, 150 kg Water
(Water Cement Ratio 50%) and 900 gm of Sika Fiber -when needed- (Alternative to crack
control mesh and reduced plastic shrinkage cracks – Data sheet attached).
E. Surface Preparation
- The surface shall be cleaned off dust, loose mortar dropping and other foreign matter by water
by brushing.
F. Accessories Installation
- All junctions between different materials shall be reinforced with expanded metal lath which
shall be nailed.
G. Application of Plaster
- Plaster of 100 mm x 30 mm shall be first applied horizontally and vertically at not more than 2
meters.
- Applied plaster shall be floated as smooth as possible and then steel-troweled, Steel troweling
shall be delayed as long as possible and used only to eliminate the uneven points and to force
aggregate particles into the plaster surface.
- The limit of deviation not more than plus or minus 6.4 mm in 3 m from a true plane in finished
plaster
surfaces, as measured by a 3-m straightedge placed on surface (Comply with ASTM C 926 and
Project Specs).
- Walls; Base-Coat Mixes for Use over Metal Lath: Scratch and brown coats for three-coat
plasterwork, on masonry, on concrete; 19-mm thickness.
- Ceilings; Base-Coat Mixes for Use over Metal Lath: Scratch and brown coats for three- coat
plasterwork; 19 mm thick on concrete.
- Walls; Base-Coat Mix: Scratch coat for two-coat plasterwork, 10 mm thick on concrete
masonry, 6 mm thick on concrete.
- Ceilings; Base-Coat Mix: Scratch coat for two-coat plasterwork, 6 mm thick on concrete.
- Plaster Finish Coats: Apply to provide float, textured finish to match Engineer's sample.
H. Plaster Repairs
Repair or replace work to eliminate cracks, dents, blisters and check cracking,
dry outs, efflorescence, sweat outs, and similar defects and where bond to substrate has failed.
