Type of Project Proposal
Type of Project Proposal
Proposal
1. Formally solicited For example, I was hired to be a debut event organizer. I will
ask my customer or client what party theme they want for the
event. They've asked if I can include pink roses as a design
feature, as well as neutral colors that match the pink rose, at
the venue. Because people describe their particular requests
on their specific wants and needs, this is a formally solicited
type of project proposal.
2. Informally Solicited For example, there are two vendors selling ice cream and I
offered the one who sells cheese-flavored ice cream if I can
order for my birthday and I didn't ask the other vendor for that
even though the ice cream that he's selling has more choices
of flavors. This is an informally solicited proposal because of
the result of conversations held between a vendor and a
prospective customer. I am interested enough in a product or
service to ask for a proposal. Typically, I did not ask for
competing proposals from other vendors. That is why it
became an informally solicited.
3. Unsolicited For example, a private party from Japan has proposed a PPP
project in one private firm here in the Philippines of railways,
where there is important infrastructure as a mode of
transportation that can help us. They submit ideas without the
government requesting them, and they provide supporting
documentation for the project. We can label it unsolicited
because it was supplied on the private firm's initiative rather
than in response to a government request.
4. Continuation For example, I am an engineer and I have a client who makes
me a shopping mall in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija. It's been a
year and it's still not ready and it will take another year to
finish our shopping mall project. So I have to make a
continuation project proposal. This continuation proposal
proposes the previously allocated money for the
project next year. Before releasing more funds, sponsors
usually request a status report and budget. This is a real-life
situation wherein a continuation type of project proposal can
be used because I will also provide a report about the project’s
progress, explain any changes made in the project, or ask for
permission to continue the project.
5. Renewal For example, I have a grocery store business, and to operate
my business I need a permit, but it will be expired next week.
So, to continue my business, I need to renew my business so I
can operate business legally. For my business to operate
legally, I need to renew my business permit. This is an
example of a real-life situation where a renewal type of
project proposal can be used.
6. Supplemental For example, in Cabanatuan City, a 10-story structure is being
constructed, but there is suddenly a shortage of equipment to
complete the project. It's prepared and distributed when a
project requires more resources than originally estimated.
Here I can use the supplemental type of project proposal
because basically, it is a request for more funds, supplies,
materials, or labor.
