cess Verification Server or refer to the SureTrac™ Process Verification Administrator Guide,
SV61484.
• For SureTrac™ Client modules (Mail Creation Print Manager), click on the Help button within
each module to get information on that particular module. The screen below shows the Docu-
ment Break module. To get information, click on the Help button at the bottom of the screen.
The SureTrac™ Server installation program will check and ask you for several pieces of information
during the installation. Verify that the PC meets the hardware and software requirements and gather
the information listed in this section.
NOTE: If the customer has purchased the optional Pitney Bowes SureTrac™ Process Verification PC, refer
to Appendix E for specifications and settings.

The SureTrac™ Server installation program verifies that two software packages are installed on the
target computer: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000 (Part 1) and the Pitney Bowes
Distribution Solutions (PBDS) Base Framework and Services (Part 2). If the installation program
does not detect these packages, it will install them. These instructions assume that the target PC
does not have these installed. Once these two packages are loaded, the SureTrac™ Server installa-
tion programs loads the actual SureTrac™ Server software (Part 3). As soon as the server programs
are loaded, you need to add the Direct Connect executables to the Windows Firewall Exception list
(Part 4).
3. Click Yes and the installation program installs both of these applications, beginning with the
MSDE application ("Installing MSDE 2000, Please wait ..." appears).
4. The installer will install the MSDE application and configure it for remote connection. If MSDE
or SQL Server is already installed you should verify that it is configured for remote connection.
Refer to Appendix D in this guide for instructions.

Predefined Groups
The W590 has the following predefined group:
To ensure that users can run the SureTrac™ Process Verification Server applications as a limited or
restricted user, their Windows XP logon user name must be added to this group.
Otherwise, you must make sure that the Windows XP logon names/accounts of those using the
SureTrac™ Process Verification Server applications have their local security policy updated to the
include the “Increase Scheduling Priority” policy.
You should determine is the customer will use this Windows XP user account or if they will create
their own users. If the customer chooses to use this account, make sure to enter a password for the
account. Remember to give the password to the customer. If the customer chooses to create new
users, you should disable or delete this account.
If the customer chooses to create new users, you should inform the customer that these users must
have the “Increase Scheduling Priority” local security policy in order to run the SureTrac™ Process
Verification Server applications. The customer can ensure that these users have this policy by add-
ing the users to the “SureTrac(tm) Process Verification Users” group. (Members of the “Administra-
tors” group also have this local security policy.)
Network Settings:
The networking settings for the W590 are shown below.
IMPORTANT!
Prior to installing the SureTrac™ Process Verification software, you should confirm these network-
ing settings with the customer. If changes to these settings are required, you should make them
before installing the software. Changing these settings after you install the Process Verification
