WLP Sci9 Week3
WLP Sci9 Week3
C. Motivation
- Let the students describe the energy of their
seatmate. They will rate it from 1-10. 1 being
the lowest and 10, the highest.
- Let the students discuss how they rate their
seatmate
D. Discussion
- Let the students define a quantum number
- Let the students identify the set of the
quantum numbers in each element.
E. Generalization
- Quantum numbers are important
because they can be used to determine the
electron configuration of an atom and the
probable location of the atom's electrons.
Quantum numbers are also used to
understand other characteristics of atoms,
such as ionization energy and the atomic
radius.
F. Evaluation
- Supply the missing parts of the table below.
G. Extend
- Let the students do the activity in “Let’s
Create” part.
Create a planetary model of the
atom. Use materials that can be
easily obtained from your home.
Recycled materials are always
welcome. Pay attention to the
details of your atomic model. Your
presentation will be rated based on
the following criteria:
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
A. Melting Point/boiling point
The temperature at which something
melts/boils.
A temperature at which the change in
state from solid to liquid.
B. Hardness
The quality or state of being hard
C. Polarity
The condition of having positive and
negative charges and especially
magnetic or electrical poles
D. Electrical conductivity
Describes the
electrical current
that will occur
due to a given
potential
difference.
E. Thermal
conductivity
Thermal
conductivity is
the ability of a
material to
conduct thermal
energy.

hexafluoride 3 6
E. Generalization
- How does covalent compound form?
Covalent bonds form when two or more
nonmetals combine. For example, both
hydrogen and oxygen are nonmetals, and
when they combine to make water, they do
so by forming covalent bonds.
F. Evaluation
- The students will answer the activity below.

as metal or nonmetal
- Let the students discuss how they identify if
the element is metal/ non- metal
D. Discussion

E. Generalization
- How does ionic compound form?
When a metal reacts with a non-metal, then
they form ionic bond, and the compound is
called the ionic compound. As a result of
reaction between metal and non-metal, they
are bonded with electrostatic force of
attraction with each other; such bonds are
called chemical bonds.
