1. Pada bacaan di bawah ini terdapat sejumlah kata yang berwarna merah. Kata ini
adalah kata yang bentuknya salah. Perbaikilah kata tersebut menjadi bentuk kata
yang benar. (skor maksimal = 30)

People often ask which language is the most difficult to learn, and it is not easy to
answer however1 there are many factor2 to take into consider3. Firstly, in a first
language, the different4 are unimportant as people learn their mother
tongue natural5, so the question of how hard a language is to learn is only relevant
when learn6 a second language.

A native speaker of Spain7, for example, will find Portuguese much easiest8 to learn
than a native speaker of Chinese, for example, because Portuguese is very similar to
Spanish, while China9 is very different. So, the first language can affect learning a
second language. The greatest10 the differences between the second language and
our first, the harder it will be for most people learning11. Many people answer that
Chinese is the harder12 language to learn, possibly influenced by the thought of
learning the Chinese writing system, and the pronounce13 of Chinese does appear to
be very difficult for many foreign learner14. However, for Japan15 speakers, who
already use Chinese characters in their own language, learning writing will be less
difficult than for speakers of languages using the Roman alphabet.

The Golden Egg

Once upon a time, a farmer had a goose that laid a golden egg every day. The egg
provided enough money for the farmer and his wife for their day-to-day needs. The
farmer and his wife were happy for a long time. But one day, the farmer got an idea
and thought, “Why should I take just one egg a day? Why can’t I take all of them at
once and make a lot of money?”

The foolish farmer’s wife also agreed and decided to cut the goose’s stomach for the
eggs. As soon as they killed the bird and opened the goose’s stomach, to find
nothing but guts and blood. The farmer, realizing his foolish mistake, cries over the
lost resource!

Answer :

Pronoun :

Possessive adjective : their.

Possessive pronoun (pronouns to express ownership) : his.

4. Buatlah kalimat dengan menggunakan phrasal verbs berikut ini (skor maksimal =
30)

Answer :

o cheer up : He cheered up when he made peace with himself.


o zero in on : We have to zero in on the final exam.
o shop around : Shop arround first before you buy a motorcyle.
o Show around : She shows me around the beautiful ocean.
