Introduction

Nowadays, tabular forms of documents are very common, but let's not forget that they
have been such for far from the first year in a row, mostly because of their convenience.
While people were developing technologies, of course, tabular forms of data also
advanced in numerous fields of human activity. As mentioned earlier, first of all it became such
because of its convenience and ease of use, both in two-dimensional planes and in three-
dimensional spaces. It is so simple that it is similar to the game "sea battle" in use. You specify
the cell, its coordinates and carry out any work with the data of the specified cell. Thus, it is
possible to build any database, use programming languages or coding and encryption.

1. What are spreadsheets

A spreadsheet is a computer program that can be used to work with data presented in the
form of two-dimensional arrays that simulate paper tables. Some programs can organize data
into "sheets", thus allowing you to work with the third dimension.
Table processors are a set of programs for managing a spreadsheet.

1.1 History of development

For the first time, the idea of creating spreadsheets as such appeared in the late 1960s by
two North American programmers Rene Pardo and Remy Landau. They developed, registered
and patented the LANPAR software product, namely LANguage for Programming Arrays at
Random. People used this software to carry out budget calculations in the world's largest
telecommunications companies.
Years later, in 1979, two Harvard University students in the USA with Dan Bricklin and
Bob Frankston created a program that became one of the most successful programs and
promoted Apple II computers on the IT market. This program was VisCalc.
The next technological stage in the development of spreadsheets began in 1982, when
software tools such as Lotus 1,2 and 3 appeared. This program became a new table processor,
which included the ability to work with databases. This program was a huge commercial success,
and was also able to greatly promote IBM computers.
Microsoft has played a special role in the promotion of spreadsheets. She launched the
well-known EXCEL on the market. Undoubtedly, this product is still a leader in its field, both in
terms of functionality and distribution in the world.
Undoubtedly, the development of technology continues to this day. At the moment,
communication systems are being upgraded, new mobile devices with various operating systems
are appearing. This brought to the fore the use and improvement of spreadsheets that would be as
easy to use as possible and would be available anywhere. At the moment, the market leader is
Google with its online tables.

Documentaries Local Multidimensional

Distributed
Factographic Two - dimensional

 Documentary tables contain information in a free format, be it text, numbers, and so on;
 Factographic tables contain brief information in a strictly defined format;
 Local tables are processed on a local APM with any operating system with the ability to
transfer to another APM of the same type (offline tables);
 Distributed tables are generated and processed on any network APM (online tables);
 Multidimensional tables have a multidimensional organization in the form of sheets;
 Two-dimensional tables have a two-dimensional organization.

Table Processor Objects

Cell range Address, number of cells
Chart Type, name, chart area size, color scheme

The systematization of spreadsheets can be more detailed, but for their use in business,
such a structure is more than enough.

1.2. Basic table processors

Quattro Pro, spreadsheets of the Master application package

Quattro Pro is an office program that is essentially a spreadsheet editor. At one time it was
developed by Borland, and some time later it was sold to Novell (in 1993) and two years later it
was bought by Corel Corporation, now it is part of the Corel WordPerfect Office suite.

Interface

Gnumeric is an open source spreadsheet program.

Gnumeric is a set of office applications with integration parts. It is part of GNOME Office. In
terms of functionality, it resembles Microsoft Excel, but at the same time it has many advantages
over it. Among these advantages are new features and no fees for using this program. Moreover,

6
experts and ordinary users have said many times that thanks to this program it is possible to get
more accurate calculations.

Interface.

KCells is a free table processor, included in the KOffice and KDE projects.

KCell is a simple table processor with a standard set of functions. It has the function of
supporting
KCell, ODS, Gnumeric, TeX, CSV and TXT formats.

Interface.

Lotus 1-2-3 is a table processor developed by Lotus Software. The program is called "1-2-
3" because it consists of three elements: tables, graphs and basic database functionality.

7
Lotus 1-2-3 is much easier to work with than VisiCalc, and also has various possibilities for
creating diagrams, diagrams and databases, but gradually the program was displaced from the
market by the Microsoft Excel application.
Interface.

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program created by Microsoft Corporation for Microsoft

Windows, Windows NT and Mac OS, as well as Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Microsoft Excel is one of the most popular and most common spreadsheet management tools.
Allows you to solve a whole range of tasks:
• Perform various calculations;
• Mathematical modeling;
• Use spreadsheets as a database.

Google Spreadsheets have been developed so that they can be used by organizations
whose advantage is the flexibility of their work processes, as well as to be confident in the safety
of their data. Thanks to Google tables and artificial intelligence technology, it is possible to
obtain accurate data for making various decisions in any field of human activity. Thanks to the
cloud, you can work as a team from any device and anywhere. And also, data from any sources
can be processed in Tables, using compatibility with third-party systems, such as Microsoft
Office.
