Concept Check 3.6

A failing learner approached and expressed his/her willingness to join you for a date in
order to pass the subject. You declined the proposal and explained the value of good
education and hard work. Is this a case of teaching morally or teaching morality? Why?
- This case is an example of teaching morality because the teacher is trying to
educate the student with hard work and the value of good education.
Concept Check 3.7
Teacher Mariel personally disagrees with one policy of her school. As a moral person
and a moral professional, what shall she do to solve this issue?
- Teacher Mariel should open a conversation with the head of the school about the
policy, explain why did she disagree and make some suggestion about it.

Concept Check 3.8

You and Mr. Aguirre are assigned to teach sociology. You hear from the satches of Mr.
Aguirre's lecture, as well as from the feedback of some learners, that he is
misrepresenting the positions of leading sociologists and social theorists. It is also clear
to you that he does not have such a grasp of the subject matter as to allow him to teach
the subject authoritatively. You know, however, that if you take up the mater with the
dean, there might follow an ugly confrontation between you and Mr. Aguire that you
would like to avoid. How would you handle this situation?
- First, I will try to personally approach Mr. Aguirre and tell him about the feedback
of some learners and advise him to correct his actions, if he did not listen after
that, then I will take up the matter to the dean because it is the right thing to do.

Concept Check 3.9

Loafing is a misconduct done by teachers or government employees when they do their
personal shopping during office hours. Why do you think this act is considered unethical
among teachers?
- It is unethical act because teaching is a form of public service wherein there is a
standard for professional teachers to promote moral and ethics. They must
behave ethically to be emulated by learners and a misconduct is not a good
example in government employees.

How would you teach morals and ethics to a learner who is unmotivated, an absentee,
and a bully in class, and most importantly a product of a dysfunctional family?
- I will talk first to the student and listen to him/her if he would open up to me, I’ll be
a good example or role model as well. I will make an effort to teach him properly
and to treat that student fairly in class. I will also encourage the student every
day and explain the importance of education for his/her future.
Concept Check 3.11
Teacher Toni is assigned by her principal to several non-teaching assignments causing
her stress and inability to meet her classes regularly. In this case, what moral decisions
are encountered by teacher Toni and how could she resolve this concern?
- Giving teacher Toni several non-teaching assignments by the principle that
cause stress and inability in meeting his/her classes regularly is the moral
decision encountered by Teacher Toni, in this situation he/she should talk
personally to the principal and explain his/her side, be honest and tell everything
so the principal can understand Teacher Toni and make any possible adjustment
because what matters the most is his/her class before anything else.
