Ayn Rand, a Russian writer and philosopher, once said, "Do not let your fire go out."
such a wonderful statement right? Fire is an excellent metaphor for eagerness, intense feelings
of passion, and desire. However, I believe I speak for some of us when I say that the fire that
once fueled our passionate souls is starting to fade, and That is what I feel right now.
My existential fear is losing my passion for the things I enjoy doing. Hello I am Analiza
Gineza, a sleep-deprived, unmotivated, who is currently unafraid of deadlines. Studying in a
blended learning set-up, the time, effort, money, and frustration has definitely tripled , and this is
what I'd like to discuss with you today. What exactly is academic or student burnout? A school
burnout, according to Ms. Lexi Wright, is a state of mental, physical, or emotional exhaustion.
When students are constantly stressed and have no time to care for themselves, it can lead to
frustration, lack of motivation, and poor academic performance. However, as stated by the
University of the People, academic burnout should not be confused with occasional frustration;
rather, it is a chronic condition that can cause real problems such as insomnia and depression.
I recently read on the Alo House Recovery Center's blog that burnout is now officially classified
as a mental illness. It is already a "syndrome" with set behaviors and symptoms like what I have
mentioned a while ago. In addition, I will mention a few more symptoms of academic burnout.
First, no matter how much sleep we get, we wake up exhausted, we lack motivation to attend
classes , and we are impatient with almost everyone and everything around us. Hold on a
second! This is the first time in a long time that I got a good score, and I am not proud. I'm not
proud of the fact that I wake up every day feeling like an exhausted lumpia, wanting to stay in
bed and avoid doing my schoolwork.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to remind you all that losing motivation and interest in
almost everything is not a proud experience. Your feeling of frustration and exhaustion is all
valid. As a result, it is normal to feel exhausted. However, don't stay there for too long. I believe
that all of us have looked for ways to overcome this illness, and if you're just waiting for a
shooting star to pass you by, let me be that star, and let me tell you that when you're ready, don't
start by looking for the fire you've lost, because you won't find it. I assure you. Remember that
we are lost in fire, that we will find in the ashes, and like a wonderful Arizona, we will rise from
the ashes and begin to awaken our passion with our newly discovered fire.
