Dexter Davis Bio 2023
Dexter began his career in entertainment at 23 years old when he formed Dexter Davis
Productions, a company that specialized in organizing creative fundraising events for non-profits
in San Francisco, California. In 2000 Mr. Davis started the boutique production company
StoneCreek Entertainment based in Beverly Hills, California. Davis expanded the company,
changed the name to D Street Media Group, LLC and relocated to Europe to learn first-hand the
global film business. Having lived in Paris, London, Rome and Berlin, Davis decided on Germany
to set up D Street’s European subsidiary, D Street Medienvertriebs GmbH.
In 2004 he executiveproduced his first feature ‘The Reception,’ which premiered at the Tribeca
Film Festival in 2005. Dexter continued to produce films, including indie hits like ‘Rivers Wash
Over Me,’ with Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery, The Walking Dead) ‘Somewhere
Slow’ with Jesslyn Gilsig (Vikings, Glee) and David Costabile (Billions, Breaking Bad, Suits). The
award-winning Afrikaans film ‘Musiek vir die Agtergrond’ and three additions films. He formed
D Street Releasings in 2006 to distribute global films in the U.S. and brokered a first of its kind
co-marketing deal with Volkswagen AG to support the marketing campaigns for foreign
languagefilms in the United States and across North America. In 2010 Davis acquired the
Argentinian production and distribution company Americiné based in Buenos Aires with a film
library of 490films from Latin America.
Davis has several films going into production in 2023/2024, including the heist film ‘The Blue
Mauritius,’ The film features an international cast of prominent international actors and is co-
executive produced by two-time Oscar winning actress/producer Renee Zellweger’s
production company Big Picture Co. Following is ‘Team Joy,’ starring Jesse Williams,(Grey’s
Anatomy, Lee Daniels’ The Butler) and Akira Akbar (Bel Air, This is Us).
Currently Mr. Davis has set his sights on Ecuador and in 2021 launched D Street Ecuador, the
holding company for D Street Películas and D3 Talent Agency (D3TA) in Quito. D3TA will be a
world class talent agency that will expose Latin American talent from all specialties to the
United States and Europe with its direct pipeline to Hollywood. D Street Ecuador will serve as
the Latin American HQ and plans to produce feature films and television series in the country
and South America for the global market such as, ‘Moto Anjos,’ a Brazilian action film set in
Sao Paulo, Brazil, ‘The Jaguar Hunter’ also set in Brazil. The Colombian/Mexican comedy ‘Se
Donde Vive Tu Mama’ and currently in development is ‘The Gringo in the Hammock’ set on the
coast of Ecuador and the first Christian-themed soccer film called ‘La Promesa’ with iconic
Ecordorian soccer player Carlos Tenorio serving as one of the executive producers. Davis also
developed bio pic ‘Brave Lord’ with Anthony Ramos attached in the lead.
For television, D Street Películas is producing ‘The Soul of Food’ an international travel food show
and ‘Living Ecuador,’ the first of its kind television series that will explore prominent cities around
the region to give the world an intimate look at all things that makes Ecuador a beautiful and
magical country.
