ASSIGNMENT – 2

INTRODUCTION:
Mastercam is a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software program used by
manufacturing professionals, such as machinists and computer Mastercam numerical control
(CNC) programmers. This software helps users produce mechanical drawings of machine
parts, learn how to operate CNC lathes and mills, and create 3-dimensional wire frame
models.

FEATURE OF MASTERCAM (2023):

• Opti Rough Detecting Undercut Stock When Machining
• Unified multi axis toolpath
• B-Axis contour turning toolpath
• Machine group setup
• Supporting multiple steady rests
• Equal scallop stock awareness/step ins
• Mesh enhancements
• More powerful and flexible 3D roughing linking
• Grouping view sheets
• Controlling the tool contact point

ADVANTAGE OF MASTERCAM:
1. Pick Your Machine: Determine which Machine type you’re going to use to manufacture a
part. If you can’t find a particular machine, don’t worry. MLC CAD Systems has an in-house
Post specialist that will configure and edit to fit your needs.

2. Define Your Stock: You can define the shape and size of your stock. If you cannot define
your stock within the parameters of Mastercam, you can always use a 3D model.

3. Level Management: Identify an organizational format for your part programs and adhere
to it. Determine a structure for your Level Manager that all CNC programmers can abide by.

4. Toolpath Selection: Enhancements made to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) help
determine which toolpath may be best suited for your particular part without prior
programming knowledge.
5. Operation Defaults: Configure your Operation Defaults for your specific needs. This will
improve the efficiency and accuracy of your programs.

6. Toolpath Manager: Build your tool assemblies and save them for future use to eliminate
repetitive work.

7. CAM/CAD: Keep in mind that Mastercam is also a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)
program with the ability to generate and manipulate 3D models.

8. Customized Drilling Cycles: Create your own Custom Drilling Cycle to suit your needs.
Mastercam can match your CNC control options!

9. Part Probing: Productivity+ is a Mastercam add-on product that can accommodate your
Renishaw machine tool probe.

10. Purchase Tiers: Mastercam can be purchased at various levels; you can buy exactly what
your business needs and what makes the biggest impact.

TOOL LIBRARY:-
Mastercam is a popular Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software used in various
industries to program CNC machines. The tool library in Mastercam contains information
about the cutting tools that are used to machine parts. This information includes the tool
geometry, material, size, and other specifications required for accurate and efficient
machining.

Here are some of the tools that you can find in the Mastercam tool library:

1. End Mills: These are cutting tools used for milling operations. They have a flat
bottom and are available in different sizes and shapes.
2. Taps: These are cutting tools used for threading holes in materials. They come in
different sizes and shapes.
3. Inserts: These are replaceable cutting tips that are used in milling and turning
operations. They come in various shapes and sizes.
4. Reamers: These are cutting tools used for creating smooth and accurate holes in
materials.
5. Countersinks: These are cutting tools used for creating a chamfer around a drilled
hole

Mastercam's tool library is customizable, allowing users to add or modify tools as

needed. It is an essential part of the software, enabling users to create accurate and
efficient toolpaths for their CNC machines.
OUTCOMEs:
Mastercam is a software program that allows you to program CNC machines.
