ABOUT

A computer mouse is a portable pointing tool that tracks motion in two dimensions in

relation to a surface

This motion is often translated into the movement of a pointer on a screen, enabling

uid control of a computer's graphical user interface

fl
HISTORY

Douglas Engelbart created the rst computer mouse in 1964, with just one key and

two metal wheels that make touch with the ground, it was designed to look like a

wooden box

Bill English developed what is now known as the "Ball Mouse" 8 years later, in 1972

WORKING

As you slide the mouse across the surface, the ball rolls under its own weight and

pushes against two plastic rollers connected by tiny wheels

One wheel detects up-and-down motions (similar to the y-axis on graph paper), while

the other detects side-to-side movements (like the x-axis on graph paper)
