Travel

Travel
As a noun, travel is uncountable. It describes the activity of travelling.
Travel broadens the mind.
My main interests are music and travel.
We can’t say “a travel”. Instead we can use journey. E.g.: Did you have a good journey?
The plural form travels is sometimes used for a long tour where several places are
visited or a series of journeys.
Have you met anybody interesting on your travels?
Journey
It is a countable noun and describes going from one place to another.
We are planning a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
It may make reference to the distance or period of time travelled.
The journey from home to work takes half an hour.
We can go on / have / make a journey.
Trip
Also a countable noun. A trip is usually shorter than a journey.
If you come to Vigo you can take a day trip to Santiago.
My boss is going on a business trip next week.
To go on a trip suggests an organised short excursion, whereas to take / make / have a
trip could be something you do in your own car, for example.
Voyage
Voyage means a long journey, often by sea. It’s quite formal.
They went to a voyage to a faraway land.
The captain informed the passengers that the voyage would take eight hours.

My flight from New York to Tokyo was delayed because of bad weather, and (hospedar a

Places to stay
Hotel: a establishment that offers lodging to travellers.
Guesthouse: accommodation like a hotel but cheaper and with fewer services.

(Youth) hostel: inexpensive lodging places, mainly for young people, with several
guests sleeping in each room, often in bunk beds.
Campsite: a place where you can pitch a tent and/or park a caravan.

Types of holidays
Package holiday / tour: a planned tour in which you pay for travel, accommodation,
and sometimes food and/or excursions, in advance.
Cruise: a pleasure voyage on a ship, stopping off to go sightseeing at different ports.
Camping: the activity of spending a holiday living in a tent, often in campsites.
Caravanning: the activity of spending a holiday in a caravan.
Activity holiday: on which you spend your time doing a particular activity such as
cycling, canoeing, bird-watching, painting, or cooking.
Adventure holiday: usually involves doing unusual, exciting and possibly risky
activities such as rafting, rock climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping, zip lining, etc.
Safari: a journey in order to watch, take pictures of, or hunt wild animals.
Rural tourism: staying in country houses or farms.
Sightseeing holiday: visiting buildings and places of interest.
