Outline: Section 2

REMINDER: Your research question is "What has already been done and what is
currently being done in relation to this issue? Make sure to include contributions
by Indigenous individuals and communities."

Section 2 should be your answer to this question. You can use one or multiple
paragraphs depending on how many points or ideas you have. Either way, remember
PEE (point, evidence, explain). You can play with the paragraph structure, but you
should always introduce and explain your evidence.

For example, you might choose to develop a single idea (ex. raising awareness) in one
paragraph and use multiple pieces of evidence to support it. If you do this, make sure to
explain how each piece of evidence supports your point.

You can also choose to develop multiple ideas (ex. raising awareness and meeting with
politicians) in multiple paragraphs. You can use either a single piece of evidence or
multiple pieces of evidence to support each idea. Again, you will need to explain the
evidence.

Either way, your paragraphs should be organized using a pattern from "The Big 4".

Despite the importance of this CtA, progress towards it has actually slowed down. It is not just
this call to action but progress towards all calls to action have slowed down.

According to the 2023 progress report published by The Yellowhead Institute, 0 calls to action
have been completed in 2023, including Call to Action #57. In this report, it discusses the
progress and future plans of the TRC Calls to Action and points out the lack of contribution the
government has been making towards the TRC Calls to Action. Some of the reasons they've
concluded are that the government seems to not care about completing them, needing
outside pressure before making progress, such as an outside institute or event that could
harm their image. An example of this is when 215 unmarked graves were found at Kamloops
Residential School in 2021. Within three months after they were found, three calls to action
were completed. This sounds amazing and shows that the government has the ability to make
change quickly, but since 2015, only 13 calls to action have been completed.
