Computer Studies (402) –Preamble

Computer Studies is part of the compulsory subjects in the Junior Secondary School Leaving Examination
taken at the end of the junior secondary school level. The Junior Secondary School leaving Examination is
based on a two-year course covering Grades 8 and 9. The Examinations Council of Zambia reformed the
examinations for practicals and some theory papers in 2019.

After analysing the Computer Studies Examination, it became necessary to revise the examination
syllabus. This process has resulted in adding 5 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 1 structured
question in Paper 1. Like other practical subjects, Paper 2 - Practical has been changed from being a
centrally set paper to School Based Assessment (SBA). Based on the revised Examination Syllabus, a
specimen paper has been developed for Computer Studies Paper 1.

Assessment Objectives (AO)

AO1 Knowledge and Comprehension

AO2 Application (Hands on Skills)

AO3 Analysis (Analytical Skills of data)

AO4 Synthesis and Evaluation (in Applications software)
