I’m Jackie Lyn V. Lozada, a social studies pre-service teacher.

My

journey throughout this course is really amazing, meaningful and inspiring in

my teaching profession someday. I learned lots of precious wisdom,

experiences and knowledge that will guide me in my noble profession. My

learning process as part of my observation in this course made me realize my

great obligation as an educator. The responsibilities that lies in me is not

easy, I have to take risk and face the battle in my entire journey as a future

teacher. My learning experience in this subject made me appreciate the

beauty and essence of teaching, and very humbly proud to say that I became

part of the College of Teacher Education family.

After a year and long months of waiting brought by the pandemic, finally

the time came wherein I step my barefoot on the ground of my beloved PSU.

The moment wherein, I was assigned in Senior high school as part of our

observation, I felt excited as well as nervous and pressure, but my visits

became worthwile, fun and meaningful. I know that the small things I

observed around and also the tasks I experienced that was given by our

facilitators as a student teacher will help and prepare me in my profession

someday.

As a pre-service teacher, I have my own definition of having my “best

school” that I want to teach once I graduate and pass the LET. For me, school

is primarily a place to learn and to improve my chances of success in my

career and life as a whole. It’s a place to better myself, not just for the good

grades, but for the satisfaction of knowing that I’m a better for going through it.

School doesn’t just teach you facts and academic skills, but disciple, social
and communication skills, leadership and so many more things too. It is a

place that prepare and nurture us to face the battle in our real life journey.

The best school for me, that I want to teach there someday is the type of

school that have enough facilities to make learning possible. These include

the necessary buildings as well as learning equipment. A good school is one

that has enough classrooms so that students can fit in without being

overclouded. When children are crammed into one classroom, even teachers

find it difficult to properly educate them. Without learning equipment, buildings

may appear to provide nothing to students. As a result, a good school should

contain sufficient learning resources, such as books and other reference

materials, as well as equipment for practical teaching.

A good school should be founded on both discipline and moral ideals.

There is no need for children to attend such a school if their values are going

to be badly impacted there. Because most students spend so much of their

time at school, their current and future conduct is heavily influenced by how

the school influences them. Every parent hopes that his or her child will be

well-behaved. A good school should assist parents in realizing their dreams.

On the same note, a school without teachers is as well as dead. Teachers

are guides of learners and they highly influence what students learn at school.

In this regard, a good school will be one that has academically qualified

teachers, to ensure academic excellence. In particular, it is the quality of

education that ultimately matters. Parents and society as a whole want people

who are not just academically proficient, but also well-rounded. A good school

should be able to mix curriculum and co-curriculum activities to produce

learners who are well fitted to enhance development in the society. When all
these are met, surely that particular school is conducive for effective learning.

Honestly, I observe the characteristics of my dream school in PSU, if God

allow me to this career path, I want to teach someday in this prominent school

here in Palawan even in the whole MIMAROPA region. PSU is my dream

school wherein I want to teach in God’s will, its a great opportunity for me to

become part of it as a pre-service teacher.

All in all, this activity made me truly realize the importance of teaching

not just as a career but a noble profession we have as a teacher. I

appreciate the essence of teaching skills, knowledge in the subject matter

and the personality traits of the teacher as a meaningful and essential

features of teaching profession in order to deliver an effective and effecient

learning to the students. I realized that teaching profession is the most

difficult job that anyone can have yet, it is also the most rewarding

especially if we saw that our students learned, grow and become successful

in life. We teachers are nation builders, the strength of every profession in

our country grows out of the knowledge and skills we have instill in our

students mind and heart that’s why, as a digitally literate teacher, it is our

duty to cultivate and empower our students by embracing our profession,

our teaching skills and characterstics as a teacher.

The power of education towards sustainable development and growth in

order to have a better society really matters, that’s why the demand to have a

competent, skilled and well-trained innovators is badly needed in nurturing the

young minds of our future generation. The most striking part for me in this

course, is appreciating my worth as a future changer. We are not simply a

teacher, we are more than that. We make impossible things become possible

for the good sake of our students.

In this profession you don’t have to find your self first or the things that will

only benefit you for your own advantage. Instead, there are lots of things you’ll

need to sacrifice such as your time, effort, money and sometimes your

pleasure or happiness in life. There are lots of things you need to consider

especially the way you act in the society because as a teacher, we are the

role model for everybody especially in our students. We need to limit

ourselves because we can’t do all things we want in life, we have to control

our actions and think our decisions before we make it.

We should always remember that teachers like us are the lamp that

lightens their way in order for them to achieve their finish line, the oil in our

lamp is the wisdom, experiences and memories we give in order for them to

move beyond success. We give hope, aspiration and a big smile in their

hearts that no such things in this world can replace, even wealth and money. I

learned in this course that, happiness, contentment and love of the things you

do especially the way other people appreciate you most importantly your

students is such a great price for a future teacher like us to expeience it in the

upcoming years. I choose teaching profession not just for the sake of salary,

for the benefits and rewards, nor just for the sake of pensions and other

services I might receive after I took this job, I choose this profession because

of love and commitment. I know that I’m not a perfect person but I always

aspire to become a responsible and great teacher to all my students. Not just

a typical teacher, but a one who will inspire, motivate and influence them to

become stronger and better person in this world.
