Course Description & Prerequisites

This course introduces elementary econometric tools that are needed


to understand and conduct empirical economic research

▶ Simple linear regression
▶ Multiple linear regression
▶ Estimation and inference of regression models
▶ Time series data and panel data models

Course Requirements and Grading Criteria
Midterm and Final exams
▶ Both are closed-book exams.
▶ There will be no make-up exams, no exceptions. If you miss an exam
due to medical reasons and a doctor’s certificate is provided, your
grade will be determined by the other exam you have taken.
▶ If you miss an exam without a valid reason, you will receive an F.
Assignments
▶ Problem sets will be assigned periodically throughout the course.
▶ The problem sets consist of both analytical and empirical questions.
The empirical questions will require usage of statistical packages such
as R, STATA or Python.
▶ Tutorial sessions for Python will be provided.
▶ Late assignments will not be accepted for any reason.
Participation
▶ Active participation will result in extra credits.
▶ Any behavior that disturbs other students in class will result in
deduction of points.
