WALK IN INTERVIEW ADVERTISEMENT

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is an autonomous research organization


under Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, undertaking advance level of
research in all aspects of the geology and geodynamics of Himalaya. It has strong
specialization in the areas of Petrology and Geochemistry, Structure and Tectonics,
Sedimentology, Geomorphology, Glaciology, Magneto-stratigraphy, Biostratigraphy,
Quaternary Geology, Environment Geology, Seismology and Geophysics, Geochronology
and Thermo chronology. To encourage young students/researchers to make career in
emerging areas of earth sciences the Institute also undertake sponsored projects.

Director, WIHG invites Candidates/Applicants for Walk-in-Interview in the purely


temporary/contractual tenured position in the undermentioned projects:

(1) PROJECT NAME : “Optical Characterization of Atmospheric Aerosol along


Mandakini Valley, Garhwal Himalaya, India” under the supervision of Dr. Chhavi Pant
Pandey, Scientist ‘D’, WIHG and PI of the project.

(A) Position : Junior Research Fellow (01 Positions)

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech) from a reputed


University/Institution, in Geophysics/ Geology /
Applied Geophysics / Earth Sciences/ Environmental
Sciences/ Physics/ Chemistry.

Desirable : 1. Knowledge of Environmental Science


2. Excellent Programming skills
3. Knowledge of Instrument handling (mobile
monitoring)
4. Willingness to work in harsh climatic conditions
in Mandakini glacier Valley.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on date of


advertisement.

Remuneration : Rs. 37,000/- p.m. plus admissible HRA @16%.

Project Tenure : Upto 24th May 2027.

(2) PROJECT NAME : “Delineation of Subsurface Geological Features, Prediction of
Missing logs and Conditioning of Vintage Sonic Logs by Machine Learning Perspectives”
under the supervision of Dr. Bappa Mukherjee, Scientist ‘B’, WIHG and PI of the project.

(B) Position : Junior Research Fellow (02 Positions)

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech) from a reputed


University/Institution, in Geophysics / Geology /
Applied Geophysics / Earth Sciences/ Geosciences/
Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Artificial
Intelligence/ Data Sciences.

Desirable : 1. Knowledge of working on AI/ ML application


(time series and image data).
2. Excellent programming skills in MATLAS/
Python.
3. Hands on experience implementing ML/ DL
algorithms.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on date of


advertisement.

Remuneration : Rs. 37,000/- p.m. plus admissible HRA @16%.

Project Tenure : Upto 25th June 2027.

NOTE:

(i) The qualifications and experience mentioned are of the minimum requirement.
The Institute reserves the right to short list the candidates based on their merit
record, qualifications, experience and suitability of Project need.
(ii) The Institute reserves the right not to fill any position, if suitable candidates are
not found.
(iii) SC/ST and OBC candidates must furnish attested copies of their category
certificate issued by the competent authority.
(iv) Column no. 14, 15 and 16 of application proforma are mandatory to fill.
(v) Age relaxation is available as per Govt. of India norms.
(vi) The above mentioned positions are purely contractual and co-terminus with the
tenure of the relevant sponsored project. Under no circumstances regularization
of the services of the concerned appointee in the Institute within the sponsored
project framework will take place.

(vii) In case the performance of the selected candidate is not found satisfactory, the
fellowship shall be terminated at any stage of the project tenure.
(viii) The Institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications without assigning
any reason.
(ix) No interim enquiries will be entertained. Canvassing in any form and bringing
any influence will be treated as a disqualification.
(x) Only selected candidates will be informed about their selection within a
fortnight from the date of interview.
(xi) Incomplete applications, applications not submitted on prescribed form or
application not as per any of the conditions of this detailed advertisement notice
available on the website of the Institute will be summarily to be rejected.
(xii) Records of the candidates not selected shall not be preserved beyond six (06)
months from the date of declaration of the result of selection.
(xiii) Candidates who wish to apply for more than one post should apply separately
for each category of post. Failing which their candidature will be rejected.
(xiv) Candidates shall attend the walk-in-interview at Wadia Institute of Himalayan
Geology, 33 GMS Road, Dehradun – 248001 on following date :
a. For Position A and B at 9:00 am on 05th November, 2024

(xv) Candidates attending the interview should come along with fully filled
application form as available in our website www.wihg.res.in . Self-attested
copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, experience, caste
etc., must also be brought along with the application form. In the case of
candidates, belonging to SC/ST/OBC category, self-attested copies of valid
Caste Certificates MUST be submitted with the application forms, failing which
the relaxations available will not be allowed. Candidates already working
elsewhere MUST route their applications through proper channel. The Original
Certificates may be brought for verification.
