Nebosh Igc Risk Assesment Report
Nebosh Igc Risk Assesment Report
Declaration: By submitting this assessment (Parts 1 – 4) for marking I declare that it is entirely my own work. I understand that falsely claiming that
the work is my own is malpractice and can lead to NEBOSH imposing severe penalties (see the NEBOSH Malpractice Policy for further information).
Important note: You must refer to the document ‘Unit IG2: risk assessment – Guidance and information for learners and Learning Partners’ while
completing all parts of this assessment. Your Learning Partner should provide you with a copy, but it can also be downloaded from the relevant
resources section for this qualification on the NEBOSH website.

Legal arguments:
It is organization legal responsibility to follow the rules and regulations at work place.
According to ILO convection C155, the organization must maintain and ensure the worker
health and safety at workplace. But if an organization don’t follow the rules and regulations
set by international labor organization and local government, enforcement agencies may
take legal action against organization. Firstly they send notification letter to inform the
Financial arguments:
When the accidents and ill health happen to the workers at workplace then there must be
financial costs which is of two type direct and indirect costs.
Direct cost includes measurable costs arising directly from the accident. When accident
happens then organization spend huge amount on worker first aid, worker sick pay, repairs
to damaged equipment, and delay in production. When there will be high accidents rate at
organization, this effect the organization reputation and the moral of worker will be low
which effect the production and all this is in financial loss of organization. While indirect
costs are uninsured costs which are difficult to quantify and hard to identify like damage to
public image, damage to industrial relations, difficulties in hiring and retaining staff as a
result of accident.
Specific legal arguments According to International Labour Organization ILO-C167, article 13 states that all necessary
measures shall be taken to ensure that all workplaces are safe and without risk of injury to the
safety and health of workers. The article 18 of ILO states that in any workplace it is necessary to
guard against danger, or in cases where the height or slope of structure exceeds the limits set by
national laws and regulations, preventive measures shall be taken to avoid the occurrence of
worker falling, as well as dropping of tools or any other materials.
According to article 14, all scaffolds and ladders or any other equipment used to work at height
should be constructed and used in accordance with national laws and regulations.
Safety nets, guardrails, scaffolding shall be inspected by competent person in accordance with the
schedule and criteria specified by national laws and regulations.
Specific legal arguments The ILO occupational health and safety Convection C167 of 1988 article 26 states that all electrical
equipment and devices should be constructed and installed by competent person which use to
Specific legal arguments According to ILO occupational health and safety convention C148-working environment (air
pollution, noise and vibration), article 9 states that where this is not possible, technical measures
applied to new plant or processes in design or installation, or added to existing plant or processes
shall be used to keep the working environment free of any danger due to noise or vibration.
In addition, the employer is responsible for providing and maintaining suitable personal protective
equipment. The employer does not expect a worker to work without the PPE required by this article.
Similarly, methods that produce little or no noise or vibration should be replaced as much as
possible in new regions by ILO recommendation R156 for controlling noise in workplace.
Consideration of likelihood AND severity The likelihood of this hazard is high because heavy machinery is used for cutting and grinding
produce a lot of noise, which has an impact on workers since they become stressed out when lead

to hearing loss, physical consequences, and job stress. The existing measures to prevent injury are
• number of workers at risk insufficient.
• how often the activity is carried

environment.
• Types of injuries or ill health includes hearing loss, tinnitus, persistent ringing bells,
ear drum rapture, psychological disorder and damage to hearing ability.
• Ten workers were at risk who were working in that area.
• The activity is being carried out on daily basis which mean it is routine activity.
• There is a widespread risk associated with this hazard because of high frequency
noise generating from grinding and cutting and workers are working without
earmuffs result in severe health issue.
How effective the action is likely to be in
controlling the risk. This should include: • It significantly helps to reduce the noise level to build a distinct near area for the
noisy area. The noise would not travel farther than the immediate area, and its
• the intended impact of the action; frequency will decrease. As a result, I encourage that dividing the loud area into
• justification for the timescale that separate nearby area would benefit workers, and lessen the likelihood of accident
you indicated in your risk and noise related health problems. The cost of implementing the strategy will be less
assessment; and than the expenditure of workers injuries.
How the risk assessment findings will be I will arrange a meeting with HSE manager and discuss the findings in this meeting. I shall present
communicated AND who you need to tell a list of conclusions and risk area action. The finding of this risk assessment will be integrated into
the training schedule and posted on departmental bulletin boards. I will also send these findings to
all relevant departments through email or company intranet, along with guidance for next steps. The
risk assessment findings and suggested actions will be published on the workplace intranet and
notice boards for all workers to see. The risk assessment document will also be shared with safety
manager, he will arrange toolbox talk for workers in which risks and hazards will be discussed and
find the prevention or reduce the hazard factor and will share this document on notice boards. The
result of this risk assessment will be that all workers will be aware of danger detection and its
control measures.
How you will follow up on the risk I shall put risk assessment on notice board in written form, as well date and timeframe for taking
assessment to check that the actions action. I shall make a note of the date and action before the action due date is 20 days away, and
have been carried out also I shall make a reminder in my phone. On the due date, I will contact with appropriate individual
to inquire on the status of the project. If a specific action is not accomplished by the deadline, I shall
figure out way that if it is lack of financial resources or employee behavior. I shall speak with
