Before you begin ...

» Size of the doll approx. 8-9 inch
» Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton/length 137 yds/weight 0.1 lbs)
soft apricot (color 263), signal red (color 115), white (color 106),
regatta blue (color 261) and dandelion (color 280), each 0.1 lbs
» Remnant of pink and black embroidery yarn
» crochet hook 2,5 mm
» two safety eyes, ø 8 mm, black (It‘s also possible to embroider the eyes.)
» stuffing
» stitch markers
» tapestry needle with blunt tip, sewing needle, curved needle

First a few suggestions ...

» Crochet Terms and abbreviations used are American terms.
» These techniques will be used and are therefore not further explained: single crochet, half double crochet,
double crochet etc. Special skills and tips are explained in the technical part.
» We will be crocheting in continuous rounds. Head and body are crocheted in one piece, starting at the feet.
» Always crochet as tightly as possible (except when specifically told not to). If the holes between the stitches are
too big, use a smaller size crochet hook.
» Use stitch markers, it is then easier to count the rounds, increases and decreases.
» If you feel like there is no more space left for stuffing, do put in a handful more!
» Modelling accurately when stuffing will give this girl the perfect shape! So don’t just stuff the stuffing
randomly, but stuff it in the right parts ;)!

A piece of advice ...

This doll is meant for collectors. Be careful especially with children under the age of 3 years. The safety eyes
and yarn can come loose, depending on your crochet skills, stuffing can come out.

fig. 03
Cut yarn and finish off (fig. 01). Crochet a second leg in the same way but do
not cut off the yarn you will use the yarn to carry on working.

Joining the legs together

Crochet the legs in soft apricot. The legs are joined in a figure eight in sc.
Use the yarn of the second leg (for clarity a green yarn has been used in the
fig. 04 pictures, but you would normally use the colour in the pattern). Crochet a
sc on the inside of the leg (where the legs meet) so that the point of the shoe
faces forwards (fig 03). Now proceed with the first leg and crochet 18 sc
(fig. 04), move back to the other leg and crochet 18 sc. At the end of the rnd
there will be 36 sc (fig. 05).

Place a stitch marker. Once you have joined the legs of the doll the stitch
marker will be at the start of the buttocks.

at what will be the buttocks, on the reverse of the doll.
Go on in spiral rnds in signal red.

4. rnd: [work sc 14, inc]x4 (= 64 st)
that you crochet till you are really at the 5.+6. rnd (signal red): work sc 64
centre back of your work. Centre back 7.+8. rnd (white): work sc 64
is a set point. It ensures that the doll is
9.+10. rnd (signal red): work sc 64
symmetrical. In this way you can correct
small errors. Using your own judgement 11.+12. rnd (white): work sc, in rnd 12 exactly until the back middle

If necessary, move your stitch marker.
Now insert stitch marker.

fig. 01 Bust
In order to give the bust more shape take a 20 cm length of skin tone yarn
(from the centre of the ball) and insert the yarn using a curved needle at the
b point where the upper edge of the bust becomes the top from the inside to
the outside (fig. 01, a). The other end of the piece of yarn is inserted from
a the outside to the inside of the neck at rnd 2/3 (fig. 01, b) and then drawn
through to the outside of the neck again.

Now pull the ends of the yarn together firmly and make a knot. This forms
fig. 02
the cleavage (fig. 02).

Then gather up the bustier at the front by tying the thread between the cups
with a needle several times in regatta blue (fig. 04). Let the ends emerge at the
neck and make a knot.

fig. 02 the ch of the previous rnd, 17 sc.
Rnd 13-18: 42 sc

Now stop crocheting and give your doll a pretty face. Insert the safety eyes
through the openings in rnd 11 and fasten them well. The numbers of the
rnds given now go from rnd 18 of the head downwards. Embroider the
eyelashes and eyebrows. Create a nose in skin tone between rnds 9 and 10 by
sewing twice over 2 stitches. Embroider the mouth between rnds 12 and 13
sewing over 2 stitches. Knot all loose ends at the back of your work and fill
the head with stuffing. There are various ways to embroider the facial features
which gives the doll a different look. It is also possible to give the doll
blushing cheeks by using a little blusher or pink eyeshadow (fig. 02).

fig. 03 Now finish the head, carry on with the yarn at rnd 18 and work in spirals.

Cut off the yarn leaving a tail of about 15 cm and draw it through the loop.
Thread a needle with the tail of yarn and insert from the front of your work
(fig. 03) thus joining the 6 sts, pull together firmly, close the head (fig. 04) and
