Setup the SOMNOmedics License Service (Windows)

Application scenario
The license query for DOMINO and DOMINO light software is also possible with the
SOMNOmedics License Service using the LAN.
After the SOMNOmedics License Service once is set up and started on a Host / Server in the
network, it is possible to use the analysis in DOMINO and DOMINO light from every local Host
which has the software installed.

Requirement
The license query with the SOMNOmedics License Service needs at least DOMINO Version
2.6.1 (from 14.May.2013) or DOMINO light Version 1.3.2 (from 07.May.2014).

The setup file is located on the included Software-CD in the subfolder: \Software\License
Server\ setup_license_RevX.exe

Installation of the License-Server-Service


Start the setup file ’setup_license_RevX.exe’ and follow the installation dialogue.

Open the overview of services (services.msc) after successful installation (Control Panel /
Administrative Tools / Services). Navigate to ’SOMNOmedics Licence service’. This service is
actually set to Startup type ’Automatic’. After the setup the service is stopped for the moment.

Create the ID
Start the service ’SOMNOmedics License Service’ (right click the service and choose Start).
The service will start and immediately stop (that’s normal right now!).

By starting the service manually, a file named ’somno_licence.log’ will be created in


C:\SOMNOmedics\SOMNOLicense (on the Host / Server where the service is installed).

Open this file and note the generated ID number. With this ID number, request a KeyCode
from the SOMNOmedics Support.

KeyCode deposit
Enter the KeyCode in the file C:\SOMNOmedics\SOMNOLicense\ somno_licence.ini – (right
click the file in Windows Explorer and choose Edit).

Enter the obtained KeyCode behind the corresponding entry ’KeyCode01’, ‘KeyCode02’, or
‘KeyCode03’. Where:

KeyCode01=KeyCode for DOMINO


KeyCode02=KeyCode for DOMINO light
KeyCode03=Database (Software-Option)

(Don’t enter a key for options which will not be in use.)

In addition, the ’SOMNOmedics Licence service’ needs a port (which you select in consultation
your IT department). Enter the port in the line ‘SLServerPort =’.

The entry now looks like the following example:

SLServerPort=30002 (The selected Port)
KeyCode01=1234A-5678B-CDEFG-YYKII-QQEE22 (The received KeyCode)

Save and close the file finally.
Now start the service ’SOMNOmedics Licence service’ again.
Thus the SOMNOmedics License Service is up and running.

Registration of clients to the license server


Start your DOMINO application and select the global settings.

Choose the tab ’Folders’. Enter the IP of the Host / Server which runs the ‘SOMNOmedics
License service’, followed by the port:
Example: 192.168.1.11:30002

Note: If a firewall is active (and / or the windows firewall) it is neccassary to set a rule for the
choosen port.
Create this in the firewall of the computer on which the ’Licence SOMNOmedics service’ runs.
Create an inbound rule for the corresponding port.

Firewall setting
Open the Windows-Firewall Settings in the Control Panel. Create a new inbound rule:
(The screenshots below shows, based on Windows 7, how to create this rule).

- Rule Type: Port
- Protokoll and Ports: TCP / Specific local ports (Edit the choosen port)
- Action: Allow the Connection
- Profile: All
