Introduction

What is hotel management?

Hotel management is really about successfully overseeing every operation of the

business to ensure consistent growth and development. This can involve the
management of anything related to the hotel industry and requires knowledge of
distribution strategy, finance and accounts, customer service, staff management,
marketing, catering management, hotel administration and more.

What is hotel management software?

Hotel management software is a technology that allows hotel operators and owners
to streamline their administrative tasks while also increasing their bookings in both
the short and long term.Your hotel management system is not only important for
your own day-to-day operations, but it’s a vital part of improving the overall guest
experience. From the beginning of your guests’ online booking journey until the
completion of their stay and their feedback once they return home, your hotel
management system is t
here to enhance their experience
Need Of Hotel Management System:

Manual maintenance of records is time taking and costly now in this technological
era. Technology has evolved during decades that have streamlined the operations
of the business. Think of a life without software at this age.

When it comes to the hotel industry, profits and revenues depend upon the services
experienced by the service. You need a hotel management software. The critical
factors in the industry start from the reception and go through room services, room
cleaning till payroll management of employees.

Now think of the situation when you have to manage all these factors manually.
Isn’t it tedious work?

What if you get all the factors on a single dashboard?

From there you can find out the best performing and least perfuming factors. The
solution is software that is customized as per the hotel industry. It will give you
data that is critical for making housekeeping services efficient.

The primary goal of an HMS is to keep your hotel's operations running smoothly.
An HMS that meets your property's reporting needs is vital to long-term success,
so if your current system makes it difficult or impossible to produce the numbers
you need to assess and expand your company, it's time to switch.
Methods of Booking Hotel’s

Personal approach: The may directly give their reservation to the hotel.
They are also termed as FITs (Free individual travellers) or chance guest.
Those guest are also termed as walk-in guests.

Travel agent: Travel agent acts as a middleman between guest and hotel by
making a reservation for a guest. A travel agent may make a reservation for FITs
(Free individual travellers) or chance guests.

Tour operator: These are wholesalers who coordinate with a different mode of
transportations, hotels, tour, associations, tourist offices etc.

Airlines: Different airlines book hotel rooms for their regular crew members or for
their clients in case of cancellation of their onward flights and also for the use of
their executives.

Inter-sell agencies: They are two or more business Organisations, like Airline and
Hotels, promoting each other’s business for mutual gain. Hotels and car rental
companies may also be inter-sell partners.

Referral groups: They are an informal or sometimes formal association of hotels

who refer guests to each other in case of sold-out status or if a guest is travelling to
another city where the hotel does not have a branch.

Online: Bookings made directly via hotels website, social media, chat widget on
the hotel website, instant messaging platforms like What’sapp, Facebook
Messenger etc.
Advantages of System

• Save time on admin tasks

• Implement an effective revenue management system.
• Increase bookings
• Accurate daily reports
• Prevent double bookings and manual errors

Disadvantages of System

• All the staff needs to be trained on the software

• The software needs to be renewed each year

• High risk of virus attack as the systems are connected to the internet most of
the time
Test Plan
A Test Plan is a detailed document that describes the test strategy, objectives, schedule,
estimation, deliverables, and resources required to perform testing for a software product. Test Plan
helps us determine the effort needed to validate the quality of the application under test. The test plan
serves as a blueprint to conduct software testing activities as a defined process, which is minutely
monitored and controlled by the test manager.
Name of the Project:
Hotel Management System
Introduction:
The objective of this test plan is to test the functionality of Hotel Management System
Test Items:
Test items include front-end, which includes modules such as Register form, login form, hotel details
page, and back-end (database) of the website
Features to be tested:
1. Register form of the system i.e. all functionalities that registers the user into the system.

2. The Login form to log in the already existing/registered user along with his/her or email-idor
phone number, and password authentication.

3. Page that provides the users options of booking, hotel details, etc.

4. Details of check-in and check-out

Features not to be tested: Appearance of the website

Approach:
System Testing is followed for performing the
testing on the system.
Test Entry Criteria:
Testing should begin when:
1. Definition of all test scenarios and test cases is complete.

2. Availability of hardware and software for initiating testing is complete.

3. Clarification of all queries is available.

Test Exit Criteria:

1. All major functionality should work as intended with no critical bugs.

2. Test cases designed in test suite are complete.

3. Coverage in terms of requirements, functionalities and features is achieved as defined in test plan.
Test Suspension Criteria:
Testing should be suspended when:
1. Major functionality doesn't work properly.

2. No more than 20 defects are found.

3. Show stopper defects are founding testing

Test Deliverables:
1. Test Cases

2. Summary report.
Testing Tasks:
Test environment should be ready priorto test
execution phase.Computer with:
1. Operating System: Windows7/ 8/10.

2. RAM: 4GB, 8GB or more.

3. Processor: Inteli5/i7/i9.

4. Active Internet Connection.

Responsibilities:
1. Test planning—Test Manager.

2. Test case writing and Test data definition —Testers with a senior tester.

3. Test Execution-Tester.

4. Query resolution- Test manager and Customer and other Stakeholders.

Staffing and Training needs
1. Training for awareness of quality, usage of tools and techniques must be done.

2. Adequate training must be given about functioning of HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
Schedule:
1. Test-Execution - 10 man-hour

2. Test-Reporting - 4 man-hours.
Risks and Contingencies:
In case of wrong budget estimation, the cost may overrun. Contingency plan Establish scope before
beginning the testing tasks and pay attention to the project planning and also track the budget
estimates constantly.
Approvals:
Project Manager should agree on the completion of the project and determine the steps to proceed
