Reflection

As a business graduate, I always want to explore how businesses from different industries
perform in the scarcity of resources and adverse situations. Companies nowadays have no
boundaries and face massive competition from their rivals. Furthermore, these challenges are
not only limited to differentiation or the competitive price, but they also must compete with
adverse situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. So, decision-making is an important
initiative to survive in the race. A company that can make decisions faster and effectively will
sustain itself in this race; otherwise, there is no other option but must run out of the race. And
the adverse scenario like the COVID-19 pandemic makes it more challenging for the think
tank of the businesses. Now it is not only limited to making the right decision but also
depends on the time, how fast the think tank can make these decisions and how businesses
can effort it.

I am delighted that in my MSc., I got the opportunity to conduct research. And I am tried my
best to research what I love to do. As I already mentioned, it is always a pleasure for me to do
something directly or indirectly related to business and COVID-19, and the company's
operations are related to each other. We all know that the global financial market faces
enormous difficulties in the pandemic and is still coping with this. Most of the journals and
articles published during this pandemic refer to businesses from all sectors facing challenges.
But fortunately, or unfortunately, I believe not all businesses suffer from this. For some
businesses, it is a curse, but many companies do better during this pandemic.

That also influenced my research paper. I want to see whether all companies suffer from this
or not. For example, the tourism and hospitality industry faces enormous difficulty because
almost every country banned travelling during the pandemic. Not only that but there is also a
high restriction on human movement. On the other hand, the businesses that can provide
online services are growing better than in pre-COVID time. Yes, my research does not prove
the fact due to some limitations. The main obstacles are small datasets and limited variables
(revenues, new infections during COVID-19). But if this can be conducted on an extensive
data set and consider a few more variables, it will be very fruitful research to make decisions.
However, I have learned many new things by conducting this research and from my
supervisor, which I firmly believe will help me achieve remarkable things in my professional
career that glorifies my future.
