1. Introduction
This document was created in order to help all Scouts get acquainted with the data collecting
procedures and rules that SportsModule set in place.

1.1. Who we are/Company Profile

SportsModule was founded in 2020 to provide a new generation sports data service that makes
a difference to our clients. Our team consists of passionate domain experts who believe in
developing and servicing market leading sports data products. We pride ourselves on using the
very latest technologies to provide a highly accurate, fast and flexible data service across a
range of sports. Our industry experts also ensure the highest standards of integrity across all
our solutions. SportsModule is the key component to any sports digital ecosystem.

1.2. Scout responsibilities & obligations

Scouts are responsible for the collection of live data from different venues around the world
using an intuitive user-friendly SportsModule Football Collection Tool. The Collection Tool is
web-based, so there is no need to install any app on your mobile device. Scouts are required to
pass the training provided by the company, before reporting any live events. The Scout position
is considered to be a part-time freelance role. All Scouts must sign a service agreement before
reporting their first match.

What we expect from our Scouts:

- Be informed about all the sports events that are going to take place where you are
based;
- Apply for the sports events you want to report in our SportsModule Scouts Portal1;
- Attend sports events and report the action live as it unfolds, from the venue;
- Oversee pre-match reporting procedures on scheduled events such as match kick-off
time, match format, etc.
- Have a fully charged mobile phone with internet connection in order to report live sports
event data from the venue;
- Possess a backup mobile device with a different mobile service provider to your main
device (optional);
- Provide a detailed post-match report on any Scouting issues encountered;
- Submit all ticket & travel expense information in a timely manner to receive
reimbursement;

1
After successfully attending the SportsModule initial training you will receive a manual explaining how to register and use the
functionalities of the SportsModule Scouts Portal.

4
- Report your ongoing availability to your Country Supervisor (CS)/SportsModule Network
Team for correct allocation of all future events.

1.3. Scouts’ network structure

All Scouts report to a Country Supervisor or to the SportsModule Network Team if no CS has
been assigned to you. The CS is responsible for leading the recruitment of new Scouts in
specific countries, which have been assigned to them. CS also manages onboarding, training,
ongoing performance of Scouts and provides frequent progress reports back to the
SportsModule Network Team. Our goal is to develop a large network of highly-qualified Scouts
and provide them with an interesting and stable part-time freelance job within the sports
technology sector.

1.4. Training and testing

The SportsModule training process is one of the important foundations of our business and
contributes to the company’s goal of delivering high-quality sports updates in real-time to our
clients all over the world. We expect dedication and commitment from everyone who wants to
join our sports scout network. After successfully attending the training, Scouts will be:
- familiar with the pre-match, match and post-match procedures of SportsModule;
- able to work independently with the SportsModule Football Collection Tool.

The SportsModule football training program is a mix between self-preparation and a trainer-led
online group training session. We have prepared a self-preparation package which covers the
theoretical basics of scouting. The package includes tutorial videos as well as match examples
with a different level of difficulty. All training videos are uploaded here:

Training Videos
Password: ~
 u8n2jC}-Y

Please keep in mind that theory itself is not enough. Watching the training videos will provide
you a solid theoretical foundation, but you need to build on it by practicing with the Collection
Tool as much as you can. That is why during your training you will have access to a demo
version of our Collection Tool. If at any point during your training you have open questions or
difficulties you can always contact our Training Team at t [email protected].

- Attending a FAQ/pre-assessment session

If you have any training-related questions and/or you want to test your knowledge and practical
skills (by participating in a short assessment simulation) you can book a slot for a
FAQ/pre-assessment session. As soon as you book a time slot for a training session a unique
Zoom video conference link is generated and included in the confirmation email. We will send
you a manual about how to work with Zoom. The document explains how you are expected to

5
interact with your host during the FAQ/pre-assessment session. Alternatively you can always
contact our Training Team at [email protected].

- Final assessment
The final assessment task consists of:
- theoretical assessment - completing an online quiz to reflect on your training progress;
- practical assessment - using the SportsModule Collection Tool to update a 15-minute
match recording shown on video.

2. Match Events
In this section you can find all possible events during a match, sorted by importance. Always
update all events in real-time. Refer to Section 4.5 to better understand how to prioritize match
events.

- Offside
- Home/Away Safe/Attack/Danger (Ball possession)

3. Pre-match procedures
90 percent of the matches you cover will be reported via the SportsModule Collection Tool. In
the other 10 percent of the cases, you will communicate via phone with our Sports Data
Analysts, who will enter the data manually (voice coverage). In both cases, it is very important to
have a fully charged phone with an internet connection.

3.1. Fixture check

Check the kick-off time 24 hours before the match you are going to cover/report. If there is a
change in the kick-off time, inform your Country Supervisor or the SportsModule Network Team
as soon as possible. Complete your fixture check (using the SportsModule Collection Tool) no
later than 60 minutes before Kick-Off.

3.2. Arriving at the venue

Organize your travel in such a way to make sure that you arrive at the stadium area 45 minutes
before Kick-Off. If you live in a big city consider travelling earlier to avoid any traffic. If you are
prevented from adhering to your intended travel schedule, you need to inform us immediately
(refer to Section 3.4. for more information about our Hotline number).

In case of a voice coverage, a Data Analyst will call you 30 minutes before Kick-Off to confirm
that you have arrived at the venue.

3.3. Opening the Collection tool

Please open h ttp://scouts.sportsmodule.com/ using Google Chrome and login with your
credentials.
The Collection Tool link will be active 1 hour and 30 minutes before KO.
3.3. Collection Tool - pre-match verification steps
Confirm the match details no later than 15 minutes before Kick-Off only if you are inside the
stadium and stay online in your reporting position.3

3
It’s important to have a good buffer and 30 minutes is reasonable but there is no need to rush confirmation of the match details
until you are sure. You can go around and ask for information if necessary.

3.4. Emergency support number (Hotline)

You should use the following numbers in case of emergency, or when you are unable to access
our system. It is recommended to save the numbers in your contact list. When calling, please
stay on the line until we hang up and after that, we will call you back. This way, we will cover the
expenses of the call.

Please add the following numbers to your contact book:

● Hotline#1: +359 876 176 051
● Hotline#2: +359 876 860 243

been approved for coverage by writing to [email protected] or
[email protected] (Operations Hotline) if it is at the last 36 hours before KO.

15
These are the most common cases in which the hotline needs to be used:

- Your assigned game is postponed/delayed/already started;
- In a general case when you have important and/or emergent information and you want
to reach a Data Analyst.

4. Match procedures
4.1. Phases of event reporting
There are three main phases of event reporting:
1) Possible Event - there is a possibility for a certain event to happen, but the event has not
occurred yet. We report the possibility that the event may occur e.g. Possible Goal,
Possible Penalty, Possible Yellow card, etc.
2) Actual Event - the event has just occurred. We report the event with the Collection Tool:
- Level 1 events must be reported within 3 seconds.
- Level 2 events must be reported within 7 seconds.
- Level 3 events must be reported within 1 5 seconds.
3) Event Confirmation - the event was confirmed by the referee. Before you confirm an
event, wait for at least 10 seconds. If you have any doubts, wait as long as you have to.
We confirm the event with the Collection Tool when we are absolutely sure that the
decision of the referee will not be changed.
Keep in mind that in some cases (examples: VAR, additional communication between
the referee and the assistant referee) the final decision can be made long after the event
has occurred.

4.5. Prioritization of events

In some situations, several events with a different level can happen simultaneously. In case
such a situation occurs, remember to prioritise the events based on their level of importance.

Examples:

1. Home Penalty Kick (Level 1) & Away Yellow Card (Level 2)

In this situation, the Home Penalty Kicк has a higher priority, as it is a Level 1 event, and the
command must be updated first. Then, the update of the Yellow Card, as it is a Level 2 event,
should follow.
Important note: In case there is a situation including a Home Penalty and an Away Second
Yellow/Red Card (both Level 1 events), the events should be updated chronologically.

2. Home Penalty Kick (Level 1) and a Home Goal (Level 1)

Sometimes a player may be fouled inside the penalty area but then immediately after a Goal
may be scored. In this situation, you must update the Goal command first and if the referee
blows his whistle a little after, indicating a Penalty Kick, then cancel the Goal and update the
Penalty Kick for the relevant team.

3. Home Goal (Level 1) after a Free Kick/Offside raised (Level 3)

In this situation, the Goal has a higher priority, as it is a Level 1 event, and the command must be
updated first. Sometimes it may seem that the goal may not count due to a previous foul or an
offside flag raised by the sideline referee before the ball hits the back of the net. However, the
most important part is to have the Goal command updated as soon as the ball crosses the line
as the main referee may eventually decide there was no foul/offside.

Remember: The Goal must be updated immediately. Then you should wait until the situation
clarifies and confirm or cancel the Goal command if needed.

4.7.2. Support Me
In this section, you will understand better in which cases you can request a call with our Data

Analysts, by using the Support me option in the menu .

When to contact our Data Analysts?

1. Game delays and stoppages:

The game is postponed - let us know if a match you are about to cover gets postponed as soon as possible. Please try to provide
confirmed information, by checking with a referee, player or stadium personnel. In addition, please provide any additional information you
might have to the Data Analyst - why is the match postponed and when it might be played.
The game is interrupted - use the GameLock functionality and let the Data Analyst know if the players have stopped playing and are
exiting the pitch, due to various reasons - floodlight failure, bad weather conditions, etc. After the game resumes, we will need the exact
time of the match.
The game is abandoned - contact the Data Analyst as soon as you have information that the game you are covering will be abandoned.
This usually happens after a prolonged interruption and inability for the match to continue. Please try to confirm with officials, players or
stadium personnel that the match is indeed abandoned.
The game is delayed - please inform the Data Analyst if the match start will be delayed - it could be a game ceremony, lack of ambulance
on the field or even one of the teams have not arrived yet.

2. Many Level 1 events happening at once

If there are many high priority events happening at once (e.g. there is a fight on the field and there are multiple Red Cards shown by the
referee and you aren’t sure how to proceed), you can request a call with the Data Analyst. In such cases, it is mandatory to use
GameLock.

3. Game clock adjustments

42
When our game clock is wrong and manual time adjustments need to be made (e.g. The correct game time is 07:55 instead of 07:45), you
need to request a call with us, so we can correct the game time.

4. Wrong team kick-off

If a mistake was made when inputting the team that takes the kick-off, please request a call so we can correct it.

5. Connection problems
If you have connection issues with our Collection Tool, continue covering the game in Offline mode and please request a call, so we can
cover the game over the phone. In the meantime please try to switch your connection from 4G to 3G.

6. No pitch visibility
Use GameLock and Support Me, if you do not have clear visibility of the pitch or cannot focus on the game for any reason - fog, smoke,
fans in front of you, etc.

Do not forget to call one of our hotline numbers in the cases listed in Section 3.3 of this
document:
- You are late/unable to attend your assigned game;
- Your assigned game is postponed/delayed/already started;
- You are unable to access our system;
- In a general case when you have important and/or emergent information and you want
to reach your Data Analyst.

When calling, please stay on the line until we hang up and after that, we will call you back. This
way, we will cover the expenses of the call.

Our goal is to provide quality data to our clients all over the world and for that matter, we have
established specific quality standards that have to be met. For this reason, in addition to our
bonus system, we have a deduction system based on the importance/level of match events and
mistakes.

Here is an overview of our deduction system:

6.2.1. Level 1 Mistakes and Deductions

All Level 1 events must be updated immediately and within 3 seconds of their occurrence. If a
Level 1 event update is delayed with more than 3 seconds or wrongly entered/missed/updated

Important note: If any other Level 3 events (Goal Kick, Free Kick Safe/Attack, Throw-In, Offside,
Home/Away Safe/Attack/Danger) are missed or delayed consistently, the Quality team reserves
the right to apply deductions on a case-by-case basis, depending on the mistakes’ severity and
