• Each assignment should provide the name of student and student ID number (or names if it
is a group assignment), the name of the course and course number, semester number and
instructor’s name.
• Present problems in sequential order; indicate beginning and the end of each problem
• Class members are expected to submit original work.
• Late homework assignments will not be accepted unless the instructor is coordinated with in
advance.
• If your assignment is not turned in when it is due, it will lose 10% in grade value for each late
day up to one week. After one week, assignments will not be accepted for any reason.
• For group assignments, please submit only one copy of the assignment with both students’
names on it.
• Class members are expected to attend class sessions and to be prompt.
• Class members are responsible for material reading assignments and practice problems.
Reading assignments are given for each class session. You are expected to come to class
prepared to discuss the readings and the suggested questions. Your individual class
participation and class assignments will contribute to your grade. For this reason, class members
are urged to be considerate and respect their colleagues by observing silence during lectures

(no whispers, talking, gestures that will distract other students. Instead students should focus
their minds on the ongoing class discussions and be ready to gain class participation marks that
may significantly contribute to your quiz grade). The following points should be noted:
Case studies
Case studies will be given for which students (team size: 4-5) are expected to analyze case
studies and and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions. The theme of the case study
will be based on some of the contemporary topics on maintenance engineering or maintenance
management.
General comments
• This class requires each student to dedicate time to perform all necessary activities – class
attendance, homework assignments, visits to the companies, assessment of facilities
planning-related shortcomings and inefficiencies that he/she observed during each visit, term
paper, preparation of presentation and reports, etc.
• Students will be expected to work in groups where necessary (unless an assignment has
been specifically instructed as individual). Under these circumstances, students may be
asked to complete a team member performance evaluation for the other group members. All
team members are expected to contribute similar amounts of work to achieve team goals.
The evaluation provides the opportunity for student feedback on this “division of labor” within
the group
