The First Day

It was a very rainy first day of deployment for

internship. We waited at the principal's office to find out
which room we would be assigned. I was excited and very
nervous at the same time, because this is a new chapter and
challenge for me to overcome.
The first day was a little bit sad for me, because I feel
pressured about the idea that I am going to teach every day.
I was assigned to Kindergarten. My Cooperating Teacher
welcomed me in her classroom with smile on her face. And, I
am not shocked when there is no kindergarten pupil that is
present, because of the rainy weather. My Cooperating
Teacher is so approachable, we had a little chitchats
regarding my personal background. And we also had a
conversation about the reason why I will be with them. After
that, she gave me my working loads. I came back in the
afternoon, and gladly there are five pupils who are present
for the afternoon session. While observing them, I started to
prepare my detailed lesson plan and instructional materials
for the next day.
The first day was quite phlegmatic because of the
weather, but still I became productive. I did not pressure
myself about tomorrow, I just believed in myself that I can
do it . And I will properly teach what the children should
learn.
New Experience

It was my second day of teaching internship at Paulog

Elementary School. And it was my first day teaching the
kindergarten pupils. I was nervous to start my day because
I’ve never had the chance to teach the morning session when
I was taking my Field Study 2, because I was assigned to the
other kindergarten class – the afternoon session. There was
already a morning and afternoon session because there is
only one kindergarten teacher, unlike last time. That’s why I
will be teaching all day.
I started with some preliminary activities to catch the
attention of the kindergarten pupils. We sang Kumusta,
Kumusta, Pito-Pito, and Ang Panahon Song. We also had
our quick exercise to energize them. And we checked the
attendance. I had 10 pupils in the morning and 14 in the
afternoon. Our lesson is about the water cycle . We had a
short story about “Munting patak-ulan”. And I’ve discussed
to them where the rain comes from. We also discussed the
letter Gg, and number 19. And the best part is the indoor
activity, where we played a game called “Mainit na Mais”.
Instead of corn, we used a ball. They have to pass it and it
must not fall.
This second day was a productive day for me, because I
was able to teach all day. And this is a new experience,
where I’ve learned to have more patience while teaching. I
was amazed at myself because I was able to do what I had to
do and deliver things pretty well.
Caregiver

This is a new day to teach the kindergarten learners.

Entering the classroom, I immediately prepared what I
needed, especially myself. My Cooperating Teacher will be
late, that’s why I started right away when it was time to
teach.
After the preliminary activities, I asked the
kindergarten pupils about what we have discussed yesterday,
to find out if they still remember it and for their classmate
who was absent yesterday to also learn. We had a story about
“Ulan at Init”. The learners are able to share the importance
of rain and heat in their own perspectives. They also gave
activities that can be done whenever it rains or shines. We
made an origami that can be used when the weather is hot ,
which is a fan. The learners also tried to write the letter G on
the board, and they had their worksheets about tracing
capital and small letter G. They also able to analyze what
are more and less numbers that make up nineteen.
During my afternoon session, I experienced a new
happening inside the classroom. One of my learners peed in
her skirt. I don’t know what to do because the child doesn’t
speak. I don’t know what is the easiest way for her to resolved
that kind of situation. But as her teacher, I did my best to
provide care for her that will let her feel comfortable. And I
can say that I did a great job.
First Meeting

This is our first meeting with our instructor in teaching

internship. She clarified some things regarding our
deployment. She shared some tips on how to finish all the
tasks like lesson planning and making of instructional
materials. She also shared some stories about her experiences
that will be useful for us, as a pre-service teachers. It makes
me happy that we have someone who can lend a hand for us
every time that we are having some trouble or problems
about teaching internship. It is very important that we have
an instructor to provide essential support and mentorship,
helping us navigate the challenges of the classroom. She also
offered valuable insights into teaching techniques,
classroom management, and lesson planning. She also
provide some feedback for our improvement.
Landforms

The weather is nice that’s why the day started with a

flag ceremony. I was happy with the number of children who
came in school during the morning session, because there is
only one absent. But I was under pressure because it was the
first time, I experienced that there were many children who
are present.
Before the discussion, we had a story about “Mga
Anyong Lupa na Nalaman ni Kiya”. The landforms
mentioned in the story are the Cagayan Valley, Mayon
Volcano, Chocolate Hills, Maulingon Mountains, and the
Coast of Halea Nature’s Park. For the activity, they identified
the different landforms in the Philippines. They learned
about letter NG, where they circled the capital letter and
boxed the small letter in their respective worksheets. They
also learned all about 20. For their indoor activity, they
played the game called “Bundok, Burol, Lambak, Bulkan”.
In this session, I realized how important aligned
activities are for children, because it helps them better
understand the different concepts that are being discussed.
And most importantly, this will support them for a
continuous learning.
Mayon Volcano

It’s raining again today, so there won’t be a flag

ceremony this morning. I’m thrilled to teach since the
discussion focuses on the volcano, something the kids can
connect with as they can see the Mayon Volcano. And I know
they can respond to queries regarding the lesson.
We talked about active and inactive volcanoes. What
we talked about the most was Mayon Volcano, which is why
we had a story about “Ang Magandang Mayon”. Before the
story begins, we learn about the meaning of words such as
natatangi, karatig, perpektong cone, masilayan, pinsala,
at alerto. We disussed where Mayon Volcano can be found,
what its shape is, and what kind of volcano it is, whether it
is active or not. For their task, they sketched Mayon Volcano.
After the discussion, we also talked about the alphabet. They
inscribed both upper and lower case of letter NG on their
paper. They also discovered about number 20, where they
summed up to 20. For their indoor activity, they managed to
convey emotions through poem named “The Mayon Volcano”.
I recognized the significance of subjects that resonate
with children, as they tend to engage more during
discussions. They also conveyed numerous answers,
viewpoints, and experiences. Teaching becomes more
enjoyable as children are eager to learn.
Famous Landforms

Before the discussion started, we had a recap about

what we studied on Monday and yesterday because it has a
connection with our study today. Our lesson today is about
famous landforms in the Philippines, including the Mayon
Volcano, Chocolate Hills, Banaue Rice Terraces, and
Boracay Island. I taught them what kind of landforms these
are and where they are located. For their work, they had a
group task where they had to build a puzzle of pictures of
Mayon Volcano, Chocolate Hills, Banaue Rice Terraces, and
Boracay Island. After they completed it, they present it in
front of the class to show if the picture is correctly formed
and what can be seen in it and to determine the name of
the landform they formed. For the alphabet, I discussed
words that begin with the letter NG such as the words ngiti,
nguya, ngipin, nginig at nguso. For the task, they traced
words starting with the letter NG, like the words I gave
during the discussion. For numeracy, I gave them word
problems that are still related to the number 20. Their task
was they had to tally the numbers from 15 to 20. For their
indoor activity we had a song about landforms. I played
some music for them to dance because there was more time.
For the wrap up, they are able to identify what are the
landforms that can be found in the Philippines.
Bodies of Water in the Philippines

The day started with routinary activities. We had a

recap about landforms. Then I introduced to them our new
topic which is about the bodies of water that can be found in
the Philippines. I explained to them words like lake, river,
waterfall, spring, and hot springs. We had a titled “Alamin
Natin Ang Mga Anyong Tubig sa Pilipinas”. The story
mentioned various bodies of water that are famous in the
Philippines such as Taal Lake, Maria Cristina Falls, Cagayan
River, hot springs in Tiwi Albay. For their activity, they drew
bodies of water such as seas, rivers, springs, and waterfalls.
We also reviewed the letters that have been discussed last
time. To checked if they still remember the letters, they had a
matching type activity regarding the first letter of the words
and its respective pictures. For numeracy, we had number
line from 1 to 20 and addition encounters up to 20. For our
indoor activity, we had a song about bodies of water. For the
wrap up, they shared the things that needs to be done to
preserve the beauty of every kind of bodies of water.
The Legend of Cagayan River

Legend is a type of story about the origins of the things

in the world. Today, we had a legend about the origin of
Cagayan River. Before the story started, we discussed the
meaning of the words such as alamat, amang bathala,
diwata, duwende, and nuno sa punso. After the story, I
asked some questions about what they have learned about
the legend of Cagayan River. They had an activity called
stick puppet. They chose their favorite character in the story
and they made their own stick puppets. They also able to
form simple words out of the letters that have been discussed.
They answered the worksheet all about 20. For their indoor
activity, we had a game where they have to match the
pictures with the letter where the word begins. Giving this
kind of activities to them, I can say that they get more active.
They are enjoying and at the same time they are learning.
Putot

There are many natural resources here in the

Philippines, and it includes various animals. The pupils
shared what animals they know. To start our day, we had a
story titled “Putot”. We first gave the meaning of the words
like brotsa, panot, kapansanan, bulate, and pluma before
the story begins. I asked a motivating question if they had
anything to change in their body. And one pupil answered,
she doesn’t want to change anything in her body because we
need to be contented with what we have. And it is not the
answer that I am expecting from a kindergarten pupil. I was
happy to hear her answer because at a young age she
already knew such things. The story is about a dog who has
a short tail and he keep on complaining because other
animals have long tails. One day Putot met bulate, bulate
explained to him that he is luckier because he has ears and
feet. In reality, we don’t see what we have, we always see the
things that we don’t have. It is important that we are
contented and thankful for the things we have because that
is one way to appreciate every little thing in life.
Different Kinds of Animals

There are many animals in the forests and oceans of

the Philippines. Some live only in land, some live only in
water and some live in both land and water. I asked them
about the importance of habitat to animals. And their
answer was to keep the animals from getting wet in the rain
and from the heat of the sun. We had a new story titled
“Linggit Laban Kay Barakuda”. In this story, the importance
of friends or colleagues is shown for the good results of
something to be done. When everyone helps each other, the
task will be completed more easily and the outcome will be
more successful.
What Teaching Internship is All About

Today is another day to learn from our teaching

internship instructor. Before we started, we had a little time
to share our experiences in the field and also raise
clarifications and questions if there are any problems about
the internship. Because ma'am had something important to
go to, we checked our learning tasks 1 and 2, as well as our
reflections. After a while, our instructor arrived and our
classmate started discussing learning task one where we
talked about what internship is and what is its importance.
We separate the 4 phases where phase 1 is about the
orientation session, phase 2 is observation and building
relationship, phase 3 is onsite tasks and phase 4 is final
demonstrations and accomplishing exit forms. We also
discussed various legal documents that apply to the
teaching profession such as the 1997 Code of Ethics for
Professional Teachers (Resolution No. 435), Anti-Bullying
Act of 2013 (R.A. 10627), Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of
1995 (R.A. 7877), and The Magna Carta for Public School
Teachers (R.A. 4670). After the discussion of our classmate,
our instructor shared some tips on how to present the topic
properly. It is important that the discussant has an energy so
that his/her listener will not be bored. It is also crucial to
provide instructional materials that are visible in any angle
of the classroom to ensure that everyone has access to the
material.
Favorite Foods

I wake up early because I feel excited to teach the new

lesson because I know that they will be active as they can
relate to the new topic. Our lesson is all about animals that
can provide food for people. They are able to share their
favorite foods and they also identified different animals
and the foods that they produce. The activity was for them
match the animals with the food they produce. I can say
that they understood the lesson because they finished the
activity as soon as possible. They are also able to identify the
big and small letter Rr in their worksheets. We had a skip
counting by 2. Most of them understood the concept of skip
counting by 2. They also finished the number chart using the
skip counting in their worksheets. Instructional materials
play a crucial part in every lesson especially in kindergarten
as it serves as their basis to connect it into their
imagination and their everyday lives.
Rr Mosaic

There are different types of animals in the Philippines.

Animals help us in our work or projects. Animals can be our
friends. I asked the children how we can make them our
friends, and their answer is if we give them a hand. With
this topic, we had a story titled “Ang Unang Kaibigan ni
Iko". The story was about a stray cat who was always chased
away by people but there was a child who always gave him
food. One day the boy was in danger and the cat helped him.
Since then he adopted the cat and the boy named him "Iko".
The children enjoyed the story as well as the activity as they
imitated the sounds and movements of the different animals.
For marungko, they made ten upper- and lower-case letters
Rr on their own paper. In numeracy, we talked about
adding and subtracting five to the number 11, 5, 8, 15, 22.
And their favorite activity today was the letter Rr Mosaic,
because they used different colors of paper that they had to
stick to the letter Rr. For indoor play, we had a game called
the boat is sinking. This day is a fun day because of the
different activities we had. The children are able to share
different positive responses regarding how to take care of
different animals which they can apply in real life scenarios.
Ang Aking Higante

Animals in the Philippines have different needs and

care. The children were able to come up with ways to take
care of the animals. We also had a story today titled "Ang
Aking Higante". This story is about a big dog who is a friend
of a child who provides him with needs such as food, water,
shelter, and most of all love. What the story indicates is that
we also need to give basic needs to animals because this is
one of the ways to show that we love them. Like us humans,
they have needs that need to be provided for every day.
During the marungko, we had different words starting with
the letter R, such as rosas, radyo, robot, repolyo, and relo.
For our Circle Time 2, we had a task where they counted how
many animals were in the picture they took, and they had to
match it to the correct number. As for indoor play, our
activity was called March Around the Alphabet where they
were asked to step on one of the letters - M, A, I, S, K, L, U, P, R,
E, B, Y, NG, N, G, O, and T and give a word that starts
withthat letter. Today was very productive for me and also
for the children because we finished all the activities happily
and the most important of all, each child learned.
Ang Panukat ni Kat

It was a rainy morning again, so only a few came in.

What we will talk about today is just a continuation of what
we talked about yesterday, about the care and needs of
animals. We had a story titled "Ang Panukat ni Kat" where
the children learned the meaning of the words medida,
piranggot, dangkal, talampakan, and dipa. The story is
about a girl who measures her room to find out how many
more cats will fit in it. This story shows how much Kat loves
the cat. She has a love for her pet cats and is willing to add
to it. In numeracy, we talked about greater than, less than,
and equal. We had another short story about a crocodile
that stares at a larger number and turns away from a lower
number, and shuts up when the number is the same. For our
indoor play, we played Bahay, Baboy, Bagyo. Since there is
only few who came to school today, I joined the game to
complete the players. The children enjoyed the game and I
saw how much they enjoyed and learned.
Team Teaching

There are many plants and trees around us. The

children were able to say the names of common trees and
plants that can be seen around. They also able to share the
plants that they have in their backyards. We had a photo
chat, where I presented to them the different pictures of a
different plants and flowers that can be found around, and
they shared their ideas and experiences regarding the
pictures. We also had a word web where we talked about the
different types of plants which are the herbs, shrubs, climbers,
creepers, and tree. I also showed some examples for each type.
For the alphabet, we talked about the new letter which is the
letter Dd. I presented to them the name of the sound of this
letter. I only discussed the topics for circle time 1, because we
had a team teaching.
Productive Day

Today, we talked about the different parts of the plants

which are the flower, stem, leaf, fruit, branch, and root.
After discussing each part, we had a story titled "Si Pagong
at si Matsing". After the story, I asked some HOTS questions to
them to know if they really listened to the story. After
questioning, we had an activity called sequencing of the
story. I gave them seven pictures that shows the summary of
the whole story. They need to arrange the pictures based on
the first part of the story until the end. After arranging, I
can say that they really understand the story. For marungko,
they traced big and small letter Dd. For numeracy, we had a
ten frames base 10 where they need to figure out how many
numbers are missing to make up the total number. They also
had an activity where they cut and pasted the different parts
of the plant in their respective positions. This is a productive
day for me because I also finished doing the detailed lesson
plan and instructional materials for tomorrow.
Patience

There are many plants and trees around us. All trees
are plants, but not all plants are trees. There is a difference
between a tree and a plant. To know the difference between
the two, we had an observation walk. Then we compare the
tree to the plant. The tree is bigger than the plant. It is also
taller and has deeper roots than the plant. The tree also has
a large and wide trunk than the stem of the plant. For their
work, they drew an example of a tree and a plant. For
marungko, we talked about words that start with the letter
Dd such as daga, dahon, damo, damit, and doktor. We also
tally the number from 11-20. Another activity we did was
leaf rubbing where they were amazed at the result because it
was new to them. Today, I ran out of patience because a
child cried because he didn't understand what to do. I have
done all the explaining but he doesn't really listen. All I did
was calm myself down and wait for him to stop crying.
