Q1. Describe the five way/sources by which we can develop sincerity in worship and actions.
Ans. Sincerity (Ikhlas) is central concept in Islam and one well represented in Quran and
Sunnah. If we define sincerity in the term of Islam it is the purification of heart from all motives
and desires save the pleasure of all mighty Allah.
In Holy Quran Allah says:
“And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering him sincere
devotions.”
In the verse mentioned above it is clear that how much sincerity is important for a Muslim, his
all action and worships should be according to the path of Allah. He should act sincerely for the
sake of Allah and dedicate his deeds for no one other.
With the help of following things we can develop sincerity in our actions and worships.
1. Dua: It is normal that we all humans always try to seek Recognition And fame his world.
We work hard day and night To become famous in the sight of others. We struggle, but if
we make dua to Allah And let him know That we are trying to do good deeds to please
him not people, Dua can do everything. Allah almighty says in Holy Quran:
“when my servants ask you concerning me,(tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I
listen to the prayers of every suppliant when he calls me.”
2. Good deeds: The more busy you are in doing good deed the more closer you are to Allah
and in turn will cleanse your heart with the pride, showing off and arrogance. Good deeds
bring barakah, rewards and blessings in our life in unbelievable way in both dunya and
Akhirah. So the more goodness we involve in ourselves, more cleaner and sincere our
heart will become. In Holy Quran it is stated that:
“Indeed, Allah doesn’t do injustice,(even) as much as weight of an atom, while if there is
good deed, He multiplies and give himself a great reward.”
3. Hiding your good deeds: If we hide your Sadaqat (almsgiving), it is well, but if we conceal
them and give them to the poor, that is better for us Allah will expiate you some of your sins.
The Prophet S.AW said:
“Allah will shade seven types of people on the Day of Judgment-the day where there is no
shade but Allah’s shade…” Two of those people he mentioned were: “The person who gives
charity and kept it so secretly to the extent that his left hand does not know the right hand
gave.” “And the person that remembers Allah privately until his eyes filled with tears.”
Belittling our good deeds will lead to sincerity. Never consider your good deeds to great,
rather understand such actions are solely due to Allah’s favor.
Allah has said
“So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.”
Ask Allah to preserve your good deeds and never be proud of your righteous actions.
4. Stay away from Praise: The Prophet S.A.W heard a man praise a man and extol him in
praise, so he said: ‘You have destroyed or cut the back of the man.”
We should always strive to be loved by people, but we should never be boastful. Always
remind yourself that this is all from Allah. Our rank in this dunya doesn’t elevate our
ranks in the eyes of Allah.
5. Self purification: The core of the Islamic faith is purification of the self, which means
that human beings must keep both their bodies and souls clean, since one affects the other
directly. A pious person is not one who keeps himself dirty and unwanted things in his
surrounding. He must keep in mind whatever he is doing Allah is watching him. He
should be afraid of Allah in every step he takes. Quran says:
“And as for him, who fears to stand in the presence of his Lord and forbids his own soul from
its whims and caprices than surely paradise in the adobe.”
