MAIN MENU
Current model usage

The EKS 5 LMI system is used in crane models:

3050-1 3055
4075-1 4080-1
4100 5095
5110-1 5130-1
5130-2 5170
5220 7450
TMS 9000E
There is a variation of this LMI, EKS 5.1, that is used in several
generation 1 model machines. It is a hybrid LMI system
comprised partly of EKS 4 and EKS 5 and must be
considered separately.

Light Display as used with EKS 5.1

The EKS 5.1 (EKS 5 Light Vertical) is

used in three late vintage Generation 1
models. Those models include the 5100,
6220L, and 6300. The LMI is a hybrid
design incorporating the Flash-Rom CPU
card from the EKS 5 while using the
standard I/O interface connections of the
EKS 4. The LMI is mounted inside the
cabin dash with a separate ‘Light’ display
mounted in the space normally occupied
by the complete EKS 4 LMI. When
trouble shooting faults or performing error
diagnosis the LMI should be treated as an
EKS 4. EKS 4 error codes files are to be
used.

Boom Angle

The main boom angle is measured by two redundant

sensors mounted in an aluminum enclosure on the side
of the boom. The sensors consist of pendulums attached
to 90 degree sweep potentiometers. The two
potentiometers supply reference values to the dual A/D
cards. The analog signals are immediately converted to
digital signals and sent to the central unit for processing
via CAN-Bus.

The main boom angle may also be measured via two

electronic angle sensors mounted in an aluminum
enclosure on the side of the boom or enclosed within the
outside and inside cable reeling drums, 1 sensor in each
reel. The angle sensors may also be in conjunction with
the length senor for the respective reel to which it is
mounted. The analog signals are immediately converted
to a digital signals and transferred to the central unit for
processing by Can-Bus.
