INTRODUCTION
We all have two internal powers, the power of your emotions or feelings
& the power of your thoughts. Who has influence over what you feel or
think? If it is anyone else but you, you have not yet accepted total self-
responsibility, which is the first step to be able to use these powers
effectively. It is normal that you might feel triggered by what people say
(or do) to you. As human beings, we have the luxury of a self-reflexive
consciousness, which allows us to think about what happened & attach
our own meaning to it. This is where your powers come into play.
If you desire a life balance between your inner Self & the outer world,
you must practice self-discipline. True power also comes from
discipline. It requires that you control your mind & emotions. It
requires that you find ways to honor the inner You. As you practice self-
discipline, you gradually develop inner peace. You become more
focused & less inclined to waste energy. You get to know your true Self
& access your real power.
To know your true Self & reclaim your inner power require emotional
discipline. When you feel negative emotion, nip it in the bud. Look
instead for a positive aspect. Let go of the common emotions of lack,
fear & insecurity. When you feel overwhelmed with too much to do, pull
back & reset your boundaries. Reduce your obligations & eliminate the
less important stuff. Choose actions that are more comfortable &
reasonable.

Your emotions give you important guidance in making wise choices.
They help you know how you are focusing your thoughts. Be aware of
your inner critic. Reframe your internal messages as more positive &
self-compassionate. Choose good feeling thoughts. Or at least choose
thoughts that make you feel better. With each good feeling thought, you
are promoting your well-being & joyful living.
To know your true Self & reclaim your inner power require mental
discipline. In your journey from ego to Spirit, you must pay less
attention to your intellect & more attention to your feelings. As you
move through the day, ask yourself how each thing feels. If something
doesn't feel right, don't proceed. If you feel unsure about what to do,
don't act. In the process, you cure yourself of the disease of over-
thinking life. You listen to your inner wisdom. You no longer allow your
intellect to dominate your life.
When your mind becomes clear & focused, your emotions feel solid. You
grow more self-aware through activities such as yoga, journal writing &
gardening. Expressing appreciation often is another powerful way to
pay attention to each moment. You grow to appreciate small things that
otherwise go unnoticed. By mindful living, you connect with your true
Self. You discover your heart's desires. You approach life from a serene,
balanced center.
To know your true Self & reclaim your inner power require spiritual
discipline. Your life is a spiritual journey to remember that you are an
infinite Being. There is no one way. But you must have the desire & take

action. Begin by accepting that you are more than your physical Self.
The Source of Energy that creates worlds flows through you. You are an
energetic physical being with non-physical roots. You cannot know your
Divine Self through intellect & reasoning. But you can have a direct
experience of knowing.
By spending quiet time alone, you discover your true Self. Explore
meditation as a life practice. It restores the body, calms the mind &
empowers the spirit. You may prefer walks alone in nature or walking
meditations. They put you in touch with the rhythms of the Earth. You
feel connected to something larger than yourself. You come back in
touch with who-you-really-are.
Taking time to nurture the inner You is not being lazy. It allows you to
step out of an action-oriented world into a quiet space. You connect with
your true Self & align with your real power. You gain clarity of intention
& purpose. You return to the world refreshed & ready to share your gifts.

CREATING A POSITIVE
ATTITUDE

What is a positive attitude?
You can answer this question by telling yourself that you have a very
high & strong image of yourself & that you are able to completely trust
yourself without any doubt to do anything humanly possible.
This inner belief in oneself should not cross the limits of modesty to self-
praise & getting big-headed. Too much attitude starts to creep in when
this happens, thereby resulting in creating negative energy around us.
This sort of negative energy results in more deterioration than progress.
A balanced view of oneself & above all humility & modesty are the
characteristics in a person which can lead them to success. With the
right kind of approach, you can build a life of success & triumph. Trust
me, there is no looking back after one gets going on the right track
The biggest reason that you need to make sure that you keep a good
attitude is that it will help you to achieve your goals. It has been said
many times before but if you believe that you can do something you
probably can & if you don't believe that you can do something you
probably can't. Having a positive attitude & believing that you can
accomplish the things that you set out to do is one of the keys to actually
being able to do them.
The other big reason that you want to keep an attitude that is positive is
that your attitude will affect the people around you. If you have a
negative attitude all the time people are going to have a bad opinion of
you & in a lot of cases are going to try to avoid being around you. A lot

of people underestimate how much their attitude affects the people
around them, it actually has a huge impact on them.
Attitude
Every Human being is a born Champion, but it’s the Attitude that makes
him/her a winner or a loser. Man's greatest power lies in the attitude he
follows. An attitude of an individual is his actions & behavior towards
life. All of us are affected, in one way or another by our attitude towards
life. Our attitude determines our present & brightens our future. Our
attitude also affects the people living around us. A healthy & positive
attitude is a must for the attainment of an individual's dreams. Being
Positive is a mental attitude that creates fruitful results.
Being positive does not mean that bad things will not happen to you. It
does not mean that you will not face some incredible challenges. It

simply means that you will have a much greater chance of succeeding at
everything you experience. I have overcome some incredible challenges
throughout my life & learned many lessons along the way. Each
challenge I faced, whether won or lost, helped prepare me for the next
challenge.
I'm sure there are people out there who have naturally positive
attitudes. People who were blessed to be born with sunny dispositions
that weren't destroyed or distorted by the negativity of others (parents,
teachers, siblings, or friends) as they grew up.
There must be people out there like this - but I am not one of them. I've
suffered from complaining & negative emotions in the past; however, I
have learned how to create a positive attitude in my life. For those of
you who, like me, were not blessed with a positive attitude as our
constant state of being, here are suggestions of how to develop &
maintain one.
Take responsibility
Know that you are the only person who can create & control your
attitude. When the coffee spills on your new white shirt, when your
spouse/significant other acts like a ____ (fill in the blank), when you
don't get the job you were dying for - these are all times when you have
a choice of how to respond. Outside events can't create your attitude.
You create your attitude in response to how you think about the event.
It's all up to you. The outside world will always throw challenges in your
path. You have to decide how you are going to respond to those

challenges, & you can pick whether to respond negatively or positively.
No one else can choose for you.
The best way to do this is to feel good about yourself! How can you
possibly project a positive attitude if inside you are beating yourself up?
You have to develop a positive confident view of yourself in order to
project this to the world.
Work at it
The other day I heard a friend complain that she could only catch her
negative thinking about half the time before she reacted & got angry or
started crying. & my response was that half the time is pretty darn good.
That's a long way from where she started when she was completely
unaware of how her negative thoughts controlled & created her life.

Protect your ears & eyes
The great majority of the population of this world does not live life from
the space of a positive attitude. In fact, I believe the majority of the
population of this world lives from a place of pain, & those people who
live from pain only know how to spread more negativity & pain. For me,
this explains many of the atrocities of our world & the reason why we
are bombarded with negativity all the time.

Read & listen to positive, inspiring material
Why read or listen to something negative when you can replace it with
something positive that will inspire or motivate you to create more
happiness, peace, or success in your life? There is so much motivational
material out there these days. Go to the bookstore or check out all the
motivational CDs available from Nightingale-Conant. When you
immerse yourself in positive, motivating material, you can't help but
absorb some of it.
Celebrate yourself & all the positive you can find in your life
Okay, maybe this is a repeat of Number 2 above, but it's a concept that
merits repeating. Celebrate who you are, the positive things you
contribute to the world, & the positive things that are happening in your
life. It doesn't matter how small they are!
What you focus on expands. If you focus on the negative, you will
experience more negative. If you celebrate the positive, you will notice
more of it showing up in your life. Realize that you have a very limited
vision of this world, & that something you perceive as negative might
really be positive - you can never really know ahead of time. Mentally
celebrate everything that you possibly can.

CHAPTER TWO
BUILDING SELF-DISCIPLINE
Self-Discipline is similar to self-control, but it is more like targeted self-
control. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it is the ability to
make yourself do things that should be done. It is the ability to do things
& complete them. It is to move from thinking or dreaming to doing. Self-
Discipline is the skill to clutch on to the tasks you wish to take on. &
discipline is the skill to require someone to take up a task for something.
If I am monitored by others then I am under the influence of discipline
or guided by a disciplined person. If I know my goals & I am aware of
where I am going to, guided by my own-self, then it is Self-Discipline.
Both are needed for achieving anything in life. Self-discipline is the key
to achievement because you can control yourself to do the tasks &
activities that are important for you, & without the need to ask someone
else to do them for you.
Self-Discipline needs a lot of action & less thinking, & it starts when you
say 'No' to the best pleasure of the moment. For example, we tend to
check emails frequently which can be a distraction away from our main
tasks, & it would be a good Self Discipline when we limit this behavior.
Another positive Self Discipline is to say 'No' to the most delicious
dishes when you are on a diet. While the regime need not be strict, the
least you should have been an inclination towards making it happen.

Understanding important facts about being self-disciplined is the first
step to mastering self-discipline. Learn these three facts & be one step
closer to being the most disciplined person you can be.
Many people in this world have the "Burger King" mentality - have it
your way, & have it right now. Everyone wants a nice house, a solid
relationship, a great body, & money. They want it all right out of college,
& they want to work 20 hours a week to get it. This instant-gratification
mentality will lead people down the road to failure. Understanding how
the self-disciplined live their lives will make it easier to learn how to be
self-disciplined.

win the game, elf-disciplined people motivate themselves with
passion & excitement, & that energy gets them moving.
▪ Self-disciplined people stay motivated by knowing how to feel
good even when they are having a bad day. Everyone has days that
make them want to crawl into bed & never get out, but disciplined
people will motivate themselves by taking control of their
thoughts & making themselves happy. They choose to run their
brain in a positive way.
Avoid distractions
You probably know what distracts you most often. Whether it's
checking your email relentlessly, browsing the web rather than
researching, or watching "just a bit more" television. We all have
distractions that we allow to creep into our life. Don't go cold turkey &
cut them out altogether but do restrict yourself to certain times & an
overall weekly allowance. Sure, you might go over the allowance
occasionally but you'll still spend less time on the distraction than you
did before. You can tighten your allowance over time if you need to.
You've probably got a diary of some sort - maybe a "real" one, more
likely an electronic one. Use it more often. Start to schedule your time

& make appointments with yourself. &, of course, keep those
appointments! There's no point in blocking off an hour for an important
project & then goofing off for most of it. Again, you'll probably mess up
in the initial stages but rather than use that as an excuse that "it's not
working", instead vow to improve next time. & the time after that!
You'll know who these are. The people who distract you from your
purpose. They may ask dumb questions, they may keep you longer at
the water cooler with conversations about last night's television,
whatever the reason they waste your time, cut down on them.
Obviously, you'll need to do this tactically - you probably can't just tell
them to go away & stop bugging you. But you can be polite & cut the
conversation short. Any excuse will work - use the word "because"
before it & they'll almost certainly accept that it's a legitimate reason.
Go on - try it!
Most people work better with deadlines & goals. If your projects haven't
already got these built-in - or if the end is too far away - set yourself a
target. When you reach that target, give yourself a reward. It doesn't
have to be a big reward (although it could be if the goal was big enough)
but it definitely has to be a reward of some sort. You'll know what
incentives you so feel free to choose something that fits that.

PERFECTING YOUR
PERSONALITY

too much time & effort & if made a habit, can even increase our level of
health-consciousness.
Maintaining good health habits is easy at times, but more often than
not, there is a chance that you will end up failing this process. This is
because the maintenance of health requires an extremely good amount
of care. There is no denying the fact that health is wealth & paying
attention to your health means that you are bound for success. Thus,
some important tips for making good health a habit have been briefly
explained below.
Drinking & smoking are two common habits that can hinder your
lifestyle & put your overall health at risk. Thus, it is important that you
avoid these habits & if you are a current smoker, make sure that you

kick the butt as soon as possible. This will increase your life span also
by a significant margin.
Always think of your doctor as he is your ally & he can keep you in good

them to de-stress. They understand that self-care is not only about the
things you do, but also about things you don't do. Too much work, the
hustle & bustle of life & everyday tension that results from a busy
lifestyle must be counteracted with enough relaxation so that stress
does not become an impact on good health.
Healthy people understand that relaxation is a reset button & they take
the time to push that button regularly.

LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST
Life is to experience; distinct & apart from the whole. You have a
mission: to be a light in the darkness, a cheerleader, a champion. Your
mission is to engage in the fray, extend a hand, offer a smile - to always
point the way. You, living life to the fullest, are a blessing for all.
A guiding light of truth beckons. Your destiny awaits. Move toward &
embrace truth or endure the trials of life idling on the sideline. In living
your life, you cannot be for or against the truth. You are either for truth
or not.
Like electricity fills a line; current either flows or is not present - there
is no state of off. In your life, you either act to fulfill your purpose or you
do not. You cannot be against the truth but in an illusion. Find your way
out of the illusion.
Living life to the fullest & if you do, you will get the most out of your life
experience while you are here. It makes the most sense not to give your
life experience to someone else or to live your life for a group. You are
an individual & this is your life experience to enjoy, but if you choose to
give away, you may not be able to get it back. If there are things that you
want to do during this lifetime, you need to get busy & do them, because
you only live once & you must make it count.

Indeed, I suppose one is enough if you do it right. Or you can kiss away
your life experience & never accomplish much of anything, or do
anything thing you set out to do. Not long ago, I was talking to an
acquaintance of mine & she reminded me of something that I often say;
live life to the fullest! & whereas this is true, & I completely agree with
that way of living, I'd also like to recommend that you don't live in the
dark.
Rather, I recommend that you understand the real world for what it is,
the world you actually live in, because rose-colored sunglasses may
entice one into a state of ignorant bliss, but it's still living in the Matrix!
But then again, it is your choice whether you wish to take the red pill or
the blue pill. If you stop thinking or seeking truth, you will not find it,
but rather someone else's truth will find you, & you will be caught in
their web, & generally live your life for their purposes & not your own.
Do you sometimes feel that something's lacking in your life? Are you
constantly in a state of confusion about what to do with your day-to-day
existence? If you find yourself questioning why you were put in this
world, then you probably need some form of inspiration to get you
going. Here are helpful tips that may help you live life to the fullest.
If you want to know how to live your life to the fullest, one of the first
things that you need to do is to learn how to take chances. Once you've
learned to take the plunge, you'll start to look at life through a new

perspective that will not only excite you but educate you as well. Be
adventurous & you'll start to see just how fun life can be.
Another tip on how you can live life to the fullest is by setting attainable
goals for yourself. Many people who fail to set goals to end up becoming
quite jaded about their lives so if you feel you're starting to develop an
unhealthy view towards your existence, it might be time to start
focusing on things that will not only test your willpower but your mind
as well.
Lastly, after achieving all the goals that you have set for yourself, always
make it a point to be grateful for what you have. It's easy to lose sight of
the things that are most important when you let ambition overcome
you. As long as you maintain a sense of humility & you're happy with
what you have, then you'll develop a healthier perspective towards your
life.
Most people overlook this critical step. They think that they need to
work harder & do things faster to get more from life. This is completely

wrong. These people end up spinning like tops, running from one thing
to the next without knowing where they intend to go & enjoying their
lives less than before.
Being realistic
Living life to the fullest is to know yourself, your abilities & your talents,
& what you are capable of. It is setting goals that make you sweat a little
bit, make you push yourself a little higher than where you are now.
Maybe you need to bite more than you can chew, just make sure you
won't choke to death. It is breaking the barriers you previously set for
yourself & enjoying every minute of it.
