Economic Growth

In 2022-23, Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at current prices was Rs. 13.27 lakh Crs. Telangana’s
GSDP at current prices was increased by 15.6% in 2022- 23.
Telangana’s nominal growth rate exceeded that of India’s by 1.0 percentage point in 2014-15. The gap increased
to 4.6 percentage points by 2019-20, declining thereafter as the pandemic hit the entire country in 2020-21, and
as the pan-Indian economy recovered from the pandemic in 2021-22. In 2022-23, Telangana’s nominal GSDP was
15.6% higher in comparison with the previous year, and India’s nominal GDP had increased by 15.4%.

• The Agriculture and Allied sectors in Telangana achieved a year-on-year growth in Gross Value Added (GVA)
(current prices) of 11.9% between 2021-22 and 2022-23. This is a 2.2 percentage points increase in the growth
rate over the 2021-22 growth rate. Since the sector employs 45.8% of the population of the state, its economic
success is crucial to improving the living standards in Telangana

Economic Growth

In 2022-23, the Per Capita Income (PCI) at current prices in Telangana was Rs.3.17 lakhs, which is Rs. 1.46 lakhs higher
than the national per capita income in 2022-23 at Rs. 1.71 lakhs. Based on the Compound Annual Growth Rate
(CAGR) of PCI at current prices for Telangana and India for 2014-15 to 2022-23, the average citizen in Telangana
can expect his/her income to double in roughly 5 to 6 years, whereas the average citizens in the country as a
whole would have to wait for about 8 to 9 years for their incomes to double. In the year 2021-22, Telangana’s
nominal PCI (Rs.2,75,443 as per Provisional Estimates) was the 2nd highest among the thirteen general states for
which data had been released by MoSPI.

• TSIIC has allotted land to 586 ST & ST entrepreneurs
to an extent of 295 acres during F.Y.2014-23. These
ST & ST entrepreneurs were given a land rebate of
Rs. 45.95 Cr.
• TSIIC has allotted land to 56 ST & ST entrepreneurs French Delegation to TSIIC
to an extent of 48 acres during F.Y.2022-23. These
ST & ST entrepreneurs were given a land rebate of
Rs. 8.95 Cr.
• The rebate on land rates for SC & ST Entrepreneurs
is increased from Rs.10 lakhs to Rs.30 lakhs, upfront
payment of only 25% with a moratorium of 2 years
and payment of balance amount in 8 years. The
interest rate is also reduced from 16% pa to 4%
• TSIIC has initiated / developed around 19 Industrial
Parks during 2022-23 and about 70 new Industrial
Parks are in the pipeline

GV Research Platform

Micro Food Processing Enterprises


Government of Telangana focusses on creation of micro food processing enterprises across the state empowering
the small and micro entrepreneurs through end-to-end handholding support. Starting from identification of the
business idea to preparation of the detailed project report, to securing collateral-free bank loans, to facilitation
of installation and thereafter provision of marketing linkages to the enterprise, a dedicated inter-department
team is helping to create thousands of micro food processing enterprises. The effort draws subsidy support from
Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Enterprises Scheme (PMFME), which is funded 60% by the centre and 40%
by the state government and has been effective from 2020-21.

• A Seed Capital amount of Rs. 36.83 Crs. has been disbursed to 9,373 SHG members through SERP and MEPMA
• 4,957 seed capital beneficiaries and scheme applicants have been trained for entrepreneurship development
and technical skills under the capacity building component in 2022-23

(Group Life Insurance) Scheme on par with Rythu
Bhima in Telangana on the occasion of National
Handloom Day 2022 and entered into an MoU with
the Life Insurance Corporation of India by releasing
an amount of Rs.21.09 Crs. to LIC. The scheme was
implemented from 14th August 2022 to cover Handloom
and Power loom weavers and ancillary workers under
LIC of India Insurance Scheme for the year 2022-23.
The scheme provides life insurance coverage of Rs.5
lakh to the family of the weaver / ancillary worker, in
the age group of 18-59 years and attached to Geo
tagged looms. In the event of his / her death, the
death benefit amount of Rs.5 lakhs will be credited
to the bank account of nominee family member of
the deceased weaver within 10 days. So far 35,999
members have been identified as eligible members
under Nethanna Bhima. Further 65 death claims have
been settled and Rs.5 lakh disbursed to the nominees
in each case.

(T-SIG)

Telangana Social Impact Group (T-SIG), the official as health and nutrition, children’s education, equitable

The past 5 years of T-SIG’s existence has seen an
increase in CSR fund deployment in alignment with the
charters of various Corporates. This is also in pursuance
of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This includes making in-roads across the Corporate
network by liaising with various Industry bodies,
organising Round Tables to increase participation
on various thematic areas, creating repositories of
NGO proposals and identifying and assessing CSR
spends of Corporates in Telangana. There was also
a COVID-19 Warriors event that was organised in
November 2021 that felicitated and recognised more
than 1000 entities and individuals for going above and
beyond to help humanity during the pandemic.
2022-23 saw CSR impact worth Rs. 2.62 Crs. across
areas such as health, education, digital infrastructure
and the environment. There were a number of
successful CSR collaborations that benefitted
various Government departments in 2022-23. Some
of them are:
UDAAN: Migrant Labour Project – This project aims at
revitalizing the migrant labourer (brick kiln) community
in Ibrahimpatnam and Sangareddy districts thereby
enabling their holistic well-being on parameters such
