Exercise - Conflict Resolution

Carefully read these two cases, which point out conflict situations, and try to present solutions for them.

1st Case
Mr. Paulo is the manager of a mold production company. It is common for the department director to
people promote courses for employees who work with new machines, whose implementation
increases production. However, they show no interest in training actions. The management of
the company felt the need to hire three more employees, but considered that it should dismiss the
coffee and rest intervals have been implemented for the employees for two years.

Mr. Paulo was alerted to the situation by the former employees. A conflict is imminent.

2nd Case
Engineer Duarte is the Director of a toothpaste production company. Yesterday he learned that one of his
employees are absent from their workplace to go talk to a colleague who works elsewhere
The productivity of the absent employee has decreased significantly. The Director fears that others
collaborators may have the same behavior.

What do you think the Director should do?

A) Talk to the section chief or to the other colleague so that he does not speak during work hours?

B) Talk to the employee who is absent, telling them to limit their conversation to break time.

C) To catch the two collaborators in the act, making them understand the harm they are causing.

D) Ensure that other employees do not do the same.

E) Not saying anything because such a fact can provoke some conflict.
