Simple Past Tense
The simple past is a verb tense that is
used to talk about things that happened
or existed before now. Imagine
someone asks what your brother
Wolfgang did while he was in town last
weekend.
Example :Wolfgang participó en un
concurso de hula hoop.
Example: Wolfgang entered a hula hoop
contes
Example: He won the silver medal.
Example: Él ganó la medalla de plata.
The simple past tense shows that you are talking
about something that has already happened.
Unlike the past continuous tense, which is
used to talk about past events that happened
over a period of time, the simple past tense
emphasizes that the action is finished
Example :Wolfgang admired the way the
light glinted off his silver medal.
Example : Wolfgang admiró la forma en que la luz
se reflejaba en su medalla de plata.
Use gramatical past simple

1. The simple past is used to talk about a specific action that

began and ended in the past, which is usually equivalent to the
Spanish indefinite past. We use it with adverbs of time like "last
year", "yesterday", "last night" ...
Ej.: Did you meet your boss last Monday? (¿Te encontraste con tu
jefe el lunes pasado?)
Ej.: I needed to buy that delicious chocolate cake. (Yo necesitaba
comprar esa deliciosa torta de chocolate).
Ej.: Loren checked her notes in school. (Loren chequeó sus notas
en la escuela).
2. The past simple is used for a set of actions carried
out in the past.

Ej.: We started our homework on time and then

we asked for an ice cream (Comenzamos nuestra
tarea a tiempo y luego preguntamos por un helado).
Ej.: You visited your friends right after your mom told
you not to go outside today. (Visitaste tus amigos
justo después que tu madre te dijo que no podías
salir hoy)
