Windows DNA

The document provides an overview of the Microsoft Windows DNA architecture. It discusses the guiding principles of being web-focused without compromise, promoting interoperability, integration, and faster development times. It outlines the development technologies used in Windows DNA like COM, DHTML, XML, and directories. The architecture supports n-tier applications with clients, servers, databases. It allows for different presentation approaches and provides application services and universal data access. Key benefits are platform independence, full transaction support, fault tolerance, and being ideal for distributed applications.

1. INTRODUCTION

Understanding The Microsoft Windows DNA Architecture:Architecture:-

Windows

DNA specifies how to: develop robust, scalable, distributed to: applications using the Windows platform. platform.

Windows

DNA is essentially a 'blueprint' that enables corporate developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to design and build distributed business applications using technologies. technologies.

2. Guiding Principles of Windows DNA

The following principles guided microsoft in developing the windows DNA architecture.
Web computing without compromise

Interoperability True integration Faster time to market Reduced complexity

Development Technologies
Windows DNA Architecture is a dynamic set of technologies that you can use to build Web applications.

Component Object Model (COM) Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML). Windows Script Components XML: Extensible Markup Language (XML). Active Directory Service Interfaces and IIS

5.Client Environments and Presentation Tier

The application developer today must develop a user interface that is distributable, available on Windows and non-Windows nonplatforms, and supports a wide range of client environments, from handheld wireless devices to high-end workstations. highWindows DNA permits the developer to choose the appropriate Windows components and Internet technologies to support the richest possible interface and range of client environments, from handheld wireless devices to high-end workstations high-

8.Features of Windows DNA

DNA helps to design and build multi-tier multiclient/server applications. DNA application are Platform independent. DNA applications provide full transactional processing support. DNA can be used to create applications that are fault tolerant. DNA is ideal for distributed applications.

9.Conclusion: 9.Conclusion:

Providing a comprehensive and integrated platform for distributed applications. Faster and easier to build distributed applications by providing a pervasive component model, extensive prebuilt application services. Provides wide choice of programming language and tools support.
