Chassis:
The fifth and final complete Nimrod built, this car was not pressed in action until the 1984 season. Still wearing the 'works' body, it was entered by British owner John Cooper in the Daytona 24 Hours. Sharing with Bob Evans and Paul Smith, they finished a commendable seventh overall. The car was returned to England and sold to Viscount Downe. He had Mallock upgrade by Mallock along the same lines as his original chassis for a two-car effort in that year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. Starting 10th and driven at at the time by Drake Olson, it could not avoid the debris from the violent crash of the sister car and crashed out. The damage was substantial and the car was not raced again. Chassis 005 was rebuilt to its Le Mans configuration and sold to Aston Martin enthusiast Peter Livanos. Still in American ownership, it was demonstrated by Ray Mallock at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed where the 25th anniversary of Group C was celebrated. The car returned to Goodwood a dozen years later as part of Aston Martin as the featured marque celebrations.
