A highway gantry is an overhead structure across a major road usually for holding signs, often variable-message signs.
How to map
Draw a line representing the gantry, using the base of the gantry as nodes and add man_made=gantry.
Do not connect the gantry to the way it is crossing, and also add an appropriate layer=* tag.
Type of gantry
Some mappers also specify the use of the gantry. Currently, three keys are commonly in use: gantry:type, gantry and gantry_type
Look at the respective Taginfo page for more information.
