Some tests have shown that adding a high-flow snorkel can increase airflow, but it’s not the primary reason for fitting one.
Does a snorkel increase wading depth?
Snorkels don’t necessarily increase your wading depth in a 4x4, but they do significantly reduce the risk of your engine being flooded, resulting in hydrolock. The air intake is raised, but remember that your limit for axles, breather, electronics and cabin seal won’t automatically be raised. You may be able to raise your wading depth with larger tyres.
