Paying for the Exam

Why is there a separate fee for the exam?

Taking the exam is optional; the fee applies to those wishing to pursue UX Certification. The exam fee covers the cost of running and maintaining the examination system and UX Certification program.

When can I pay for the exam?

You can pay the exam fee when registering for a course, or you can pay after attending the course by purchasing an exam credit from your profile. Exam fees paid prior to a course are subject to the same refund policy as tuition; exam fees paid after a training event are non-refundable.

Preparing for the Exam

How can I prepare for the exam?

Paying attention and taking notes during the course is the best way to prepare for the exam. The exam will only cover material covered during the course, and can usually be found in the course slides. You don’t need to read any external books or resources to pass the exam. Just before attempting the exam, we suggest that you review your course slides and notes.

Taking the Exam

Who can take the exam?

Only people who have attended the entire training course can take the exam, and the exam must be taken within 35 days. Earning UX Certification credit represents both the knowledge verified by the exam and the hands-on practical learning during class. Taking the exam without attending the course does not fulfill the requirements for NN/g UX Certification.

How will I access the exam?

After the class ends, if you have signed in and attended the course, you will be able to access your exam.

When do I need to take the exam?

You must pass the exam within 35 calendar days of the course in order to apply the course credit toward UX Certification. We recommend taking the exam shortly after the course, while the information from the training is fresh. Many people take them in the evening on the same day as the training, or on the following day.

What equipment do I need to take the exam?

We recommend using a computer with no firewall, as they can cause issues with the exam. We also strongly recommend taking the exam on a large screen rather than a mobile phone, as some questions might refer to large screenshots of designs which may be difficult to see on a small screen.

Is the exam timed?

Yes, up to 1-hour is allowed for each attempt. However, you can save and resume the exam at a later time to take a break.

Can I refer to my notes while I take the exam?

Yes, you can refer to the materials given during the course, as well as any notes you took while in class; you may not confer with other people or consult other sources.

Can you provide accommodations for the exam?

Yes. We provide reasonable adjustments for individuals who need accommodations. These adjustments are individualized, so we consider them on a case-by-case basis. Please contact [email protected] if you need accommodations.

What happens if I don't pass the exam?

To receive UX Certification credit, you must pass the exam within 3 attempts. After each failed attempt, we provide you with a list of topics to study to improve your next attempt. After 3 attempts, you will have the option to repeat the virtual class at a reduced price, and pay for and take the exam again.
