Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Rotideypoc41352 (talk | contribs) at 16:27, 20 April 2025 (Contested technical requests: Already done, it seems like? Discussion about case can occur at Talk:Syrian transitional government#Post Closure Move). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Previously discussed in 2023, with the consensus being "Not moved". 162 etc. (talk) 06:29, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per World Rugby’s official terminology, the correct name for this tournament is “Men's Rugby World Cup.” In 2023, World Rugby confirmed a return to gender-specific titles for clarity and parity, officially referring to the events as “Men’s Rugby World Cup” and “Women’s Rugby World Cup.” This move aligns with how the women's tournament is already titled on Wikipedia and ensures consistency with the sport’s governing body. The article has prior RM history, and therefore is ineligible for WP:RMT. See WP:PCM. 162 etc. (talk) 18:07, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per this RfC, en.wiki uses BGN/PCGN for romanization of Kazakh. 162 etc. (talk) 01:38, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We follow what reliable sources use. The Washington Post uses "Rachele Mussolini", so that seems good enough for me. 162 etc. (talk) 18:45, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Since reliable Italian sources write the CORRECT surname (Italian wives, unlike American wives, keep their own surnames and don't take their husband's), it makes much more sense to follow Italian reliable sources (example: la Repubblica) for this page, as for many articles about Italian politicians; why not do it in this article as well? WP:COMMONNAME: "(Wikipedia) prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources.)" 162 etc. (talk) 16:15, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But throughout the article, with the sole exception of the title, it's written "Rachele Guidi"; this risks confusing readers. JacktheBrown (talk) 15:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing stopping you from improving the article. I note that you've made several edits to it already. With that in mind, unless you can demonstrate that the WP:COMMONNAME is "Rachele Guidi", there is no reason to move the article. 162 etc. (talk) 01:33, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@KingArti I agree - best to wait until the album is released and covered in WP:RS to avoid it being deleted. ASUKITE 14:55, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Iamaninnocentsoul There is a current AfD discussion. Wait for that discussion to be over first. – robertsky (talk) 16:41, 19 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
