Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- AO World → AO.com (currently a redirect back to AO World) (move · discuss) – AO or AO.com is the WP:COMMONNAME as this is the trade name the company on its publicity material, and most reliable sources refer to the company as AO.com or simply AO. UltrasonicMadness (talk) 16:54, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Božidarević → Bosdari (currently a redirect back to Božidarević) (move · discuss) – Pretty much all notable members of this family are referred to as Bosdari according to modern bibliography. Kj1595 (talk) 01:09, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Lukarić → Luccari (currently a redirect back to Lukarić) (move · discuss) – Same with the Luccari family whose name, like the Bosdari, is slavicized, in contradition with modern bibliography. Kj1595 (talk) 01:09, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sirio (disambiguation) (currently a redirect to Sirio) → Sirio (move · discuss) – Malplaced dab. Natg 19 (talk) 08:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- It's only "malplaced" because the target redirect was changed yesterday. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:43, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- @BarrelProof: Is this contesting the move? Do you take a position that there is a primary topic? Adumbrativus (talk) 03:27, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- No. It was just a remark without taking a clear position. But I do get a bit annoyed when someone refers to the current state of Wikipedia content to support taking some action without pointing out that the status they're referring to is due to a recent change. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:44, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

- Wat Chulamani → Wat Chulamani, Phitsanulok (currently a redirect back to Wat Chulamani) (move · discuss) – Many temples in Thailand are titled 'Wat Chulamani', the page is better reserved for diasmb. See thwiki: th:วัดจุฬามณี, and commons commons:Category:Wat Chulamani. It just happens so that this is currently the only temple with this name on enwiki. Chainwit. (talk) 18:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- A good point, but not necessarily relevant until there are additional articles about other temples of the same name. Also, if this one were to be moved, I think naming conventions would require Wat Chulamani (Phitsanulok province). ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:47, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali → Siti Hasmah (currently a redirect back to Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali) (move · discuss) – Siti Hasmah is the common name of the subject (supported by here) and the current article should be move to conform with WP:COMMONNAME. 183.171.113.23 (talk) 03:46, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- There has been a prior RM on the talk page, which arrived at the current name, so at best should be discussed. Also worth bearing in mind that her recently-stated personal preference is not to include the Siti part, although sources don't seem to necessary follow that.[1] — Amakuru (talk) 16:12, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- FC Zhetysu → FC Jetisu (currently a redirect back to FC Zhetysu) (move · discuss) – "Jetisu" is the more concise and commonly used form, consistent with naming of the region on Kazakhstan (e.g., Jetisu and Jetisu Region). "Zhetysu" is also Russian transliteration. Ashkazakh (talk) 18:06, 21 April 2025 (UTC) Ashkazakh (talk) 18:06, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- I contested this last time, so you really shouldn't be bringing this to WP:RMT again.
- "Zhetysu" is the correct BGN/PCGN romanization. No English-language sources cited. Note that the Jetisu article title is the result of an undiscussed move, and should probably be reverted and go to discussion. 162 etc. (talk) 22:10, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

- @Amakuru: What is the objection here? 162 etc. (talk) 17:45, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- Moving to less concise and more long-winded disambiguators is not helpful for readers. The current ones are great and do the job, and the Nickelodeon one has been discussed before. I'd object to all of the above if I could, because clearly the bold moves by Intrisit were beneficial for the project, but I guess they were undiscussed so I can't do that. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 18:04, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- The bold moves directly contradict our longstanding naming convention at WP:NCBC, and are not beneficial. The full disambiguation is necessary "if the title shares a name with unlike topics." In this case, Viva and Nickelodeon can refer to things that aren't TV channels ("unlike topics") and therefore the full disambiguation tag is used. If you disagree with that, you're welcome to start a thread at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (broadcasting), but in the meantime, these should be uncontroversially reverted. 162 etc. (talk) 21:17, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- There are no other topics that I know of that vie for the title "Viva (Brazil)" or "Nickelodeon (Australia and New Zealand)". In theory there could be something that's not a TV channel that shares the name, but in fact there isn't. Per WP:CONCISE, a title should be long enough to identify the topic but no longer than that, all other things being equal. Adding "TV channel" just adds verbiage for no particular reason. — Amakuru (talk) 16:16, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

- Romanian revolution → Romanian Revolution (currently a redirect back to Romanian revolution) (move · discuss) – Per MOS:MILTERMS, more commonly capitalized than not. Revert undiscussed move. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 12:57, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Uppercase-versus-lowercase for the word "Revolution" has been rather contentious in recent RMs (including two RMs that are currently ongoing and one that was closed in favour of lowercase), so this is not uncontroversial. It is also not a revert of a recent undiscussed move, since the mentioned renaming was nearly two years ago. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:10, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Uppercasing seems correct per the n-grams which reflect the trend of uppercasing successful revolutions after a few decades have passed, as in this case. Good idea Chicdat, but this is controversial and would have to be discussed in a full RM. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:26, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

- Money Box (radio programme) → Money Box (currently a redirect instead to Piggy bank) (move · discuss) – Unnecessary disambiguator Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 21:29, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Is this obscure radio program really both notable and the primary topic over Money box redirecting to Piggy bank? Pppery (alt) (talk) 03:42, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Jean-de-Nivelle A discussion would help resolve any questions regarding the primary topic for this primary redirect target. Also - I could see other topics contending for this title, such as Donation box. I'll add the caveat that "Money Box" is uppercase, (WP:SMALLDIFFS), but that edge case is still best resolved in a discussion. ASUKITE 15:21, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
