Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Network Ten Pty Limited → Paramount Australia & New Zealand (currently a redirect back to Network Ten Pty Limited) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME, WP:NCCORP, proposed name is the trading name, current name is the legal name Counconks (talk) 00:06, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oxford Grammar School (currently a redirect to Oxford Grammar High School) → Oxford Grammar High School (move · discuss) – Official name by which school is known per its own website (albeit not url name) 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:01, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- King Yan (currently a redirect to Yanluo Wang) → Yanluo Wang (move · discuss) – Move to “Yanluo Wang” requested per WP:COMMONNAME. Google returns virtually 0 results for “King Yan”. The vast majority of academic and non-academic references to this figure seem to use either the transliteration “Yanluo Wang” or a shorted version “Yan Wang” Nyarlathotep1001 (talk) 00:12, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- French Colombian (currently a redirect to French Colombians) → French Colombians (move · discuss) – To align with other ethnicity articles, particularly those of other Colombian ethnic groups. Mason7512 (talk) 00:16, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Discovery Canyon Campus School (currently a redirect to Discovery Canyon Campus) → Discovery Canyon Campus (move · discuss) – Common name for the school/school system, used on the ASD20 website and in local publications. The original 2009 page move was accompanied by the comment "WPMOS," but there was never an MOS consensus about school names as far as I can tell, and "Discovery Canyon Campus School" is not a commonly used name for this place. Geracruzcolusa (talk) 01:54, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Nothing is technically stopping you from moving this yourself. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:44, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Stanis Idumbo Muzambo (currently a redirect to Stanis Idumbo) → Stanis Idumbo (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME since moving to Sevilla in Spain. Ortizesp (talk) 01:59, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Istanbul–Pythion railway (currently a redirect to Istanbul–Pythio railway) → Istanbul–Pythio railway (move · discuss) – The page moves were performed by a blocked user Multituberculata, a sockpuppet of Saguamundi (source, source). In addition, the station name is officially called Pythio (source) Minoa (talk) 23:54, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Wairarapa Line → Wairarapa line (currently a redirect back to Wairarapa Line) (move · discuss) – Use sentence case. This term is by far most often with lowercase line in sources. Dicklyon (talk) 00:20, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: In light of past disputes about certain lines, e.g. Talk:City Line (Merseytravel)#Requested move 18 December 2024 and Talk:Northern line (Merseyrail)#Requested move 26 December 2024, and other articles in Category:Railway lines in New Zealand, it appears this has the potential to be controversial. Adumbrativus (talk) 02:37, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- United Nations and South Korea → South Korea and the United Nations (currently a redirect back to United Nations and South Korea) (move · discuss) – The title redirects to the article "Korea and the United Nations" Fatimald (talk) 10:54, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- United Nations and North Korea → North Korea and the United Nations (currently a redirect back to United Nations and North Korea) (move · discuss) – The title redirects to the article "Korea and the United Nations" Fatimald (talk) 10:56, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- What's your actual argument for the move? * Pppery * it has begun... 16:31, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Fatimald: I've changed the two redirects to point back to the two respective articles. Do you still want to move the articles? Station1 (talk) 17:45, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- What's your actual argument for the move? * Pppery * it has begun... 16:31, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- The Exit 8 (film) (currently a redirect to Exit 8 (film)) → Exit 8 (currently a redirect instead to The Exit 8) (move · discuss) – This film does not have the word “the” in its title per the press materials on the Cannes Film Festival website (https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/2025/exit-8-kawamura-genki-is-hunting-for-the-way-out/), reviews of the film (https://www.screendaily.com/reviews/exit-8-review-tokyos-subway-is-an-endless-purgatory-in-ingenious-video-game-adaptation/5205197.article) and the website of the company that is selling the international rights to the film (https://goodfellas.film/movie/exit-8/) Sipiso (talk) 15:54, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Both the video game and the film are known by both names, so I don't think it's appropriate to distinguish them solely on the presence/absence of the "the". No objection to a move to "Exit 8 (film)" * Pppery * it has begun... 16:31, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Amir Segev Sarusi/Yoram Kraus → Yoram Kraus (move · discuss) – Finished draft Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)--Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm hesitant to publish to the main page as it stands, it should probably go to draft space and go through WP:AFC first. The article looks more like a CV or promotional piece for the individual concerned than an encyclopedia article. — Amakuru (talk) 10:59, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is a translation of a Hebrew article I originally wrote, which was not considered controversial. I have made an effort to present a balanced account, including relevant context and details. As for the claim that the article does not adhere to NPOV guidelines, it explicitly references companies that went bankrupt and relies on independent sources—many of which are critical, such as court documents and media articles. The only section that draws on less objective sources is the brief mention of the subject’s hobbies. However, I included this information because it adds texture to the article and is not of significant weight; in any case, hobbies are rarely documented by "neutral" or scholarly sources. --Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 13:41, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

- @Amir Segev Sarusi The top of this page says that if you are wanting an admin to approve of your article (like this one), this is the wrong place to do so. As recommended by the users above, you should go through the WP:AFC process. Place

- Imran H Sarkar → Imran H. Sarker (move · discuss) – Correct name as per this link. Also, surname spelled "Sarker" not "Sarkar" throughout the article 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:06, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- It looks like the references do not agree on the correct spelling of the name, with several using the former spelling, and several using the latter. Should probably be determined with an RM. cyberdog958Talk 05:19, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
