Why Fukuda?

[edit]

Hello, I wonder why English Wikipedia has her article under this name. (In Japan she is known as Kaga no Chiyo-jo (Lady Chiyo of Kaga). Her Japanese Wikipedia article reads

  • She was a daughter of Fukumasu-ya
  • She might marry with a man whose surname was Fukuoka

but there is no mention of probability she is and was known as Fukuda someone. Can anyone cite a reference she is actually known united with this family name Fukuda? --Aphaia (talk) 09:23, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This NDL link mentions Fukuda and more generally refers to 千代尼句集 and 俳諧大辞典 for sourcing; apparently she married 福田弥八郎, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 09:59, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I should have given a look to NDL first. ;) --Aphaia (talk) 13:44, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fukuda Chiyo-niKaga no Chiyo – No strong evidence Fukuda Chiyo-ni is the more well known name. Even the dubious link provided by @Maculosae tegmine lyncis: shows Kaga no Chiyo. Not clear which one's preferred in English publications on Google Books. Fukuda isn't mentioned once in the entirety of the corresponding Japanese Wikipedia article. Only Kaga no Chiyo is listed in various major dictionaries (Kokugo Daijiten, Kojien, Daijisen, Daijirin).
