Sexual diversity → Gender and sexual diversity – Following page move discussion of Sexual minority, analogously this would apply for Sexual diversity. The difference is that Gender minority doesn't exist as a page on its own, and Gender diversity does. So, if this page gets moved, would it become WP:BCA? - Support as sexual diversity already discusses the overlapping gender diversity topic. fgnievinski (talk) 19:02, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Before this RM - based on the nom's note of Gender diversity existing and also that gender and sexual minorities are not totally analogous to the concept of diversity among genders and sexes - there should have been discussion over the appropriateness, necessity and functionality (rather than assuming/asserting it's the same case), as well as discussion over what should be done about the Gender diversity article and how potential merging should be carried out. If those discussions have happened, please link them - if they were not well-attended, we can only hope to have more significant discussion here. Kingsif (talk) 14:03, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm. It doesn't appear there was any analogous discussion on the Talk:Gender diversity page, presently, nor here. There does seem to be less use of "gender and sexual diversity" than "sexual diversity" when searching for both on Google Scholar, but I personally would need more evidence as to whether these are the same before favoring this move. They may be the same, but for this move to happen, there should be more discussion over the appropriateness, necessity and functionality of this move, and how it would be carried out, as you put it. I'd like to here from the OP of this discussion on this. Historyday01 (talk) 14:57, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- The article itself presents them both as synonymous. In sexology, gender identity is part of sexuality in a broad sense, but there is a need nowadays to distinguish them, especially when talking about the diversity of groups based on gender and sexuality. If transgender and cisgender experiences are part of this article, it would be appropriate to specifically refer to these experiences as gender diversity.
- The article Gender diversity deals with a topic that isn't addressed in Sexual diversity yet, which is about representation, inequality, and equity, especially in jobs/industry. So it wouldn't be a broad-topic article, actually, unless merged. But they do have different scopes, so eventually maybe disambiguators will be needed, because Gender diversity has two different meanings/senses or ways to talking about the concept.
- The reason why this concept of Gender and sexual diversity is connected with Sexual and gender minority is more because of the acronyms (such as GSRD/GSD/SGD vs GSRM/GSM/SGM). Sometimes they are used to refer to LGBTQ community as a whole, an euphemism, or broader. LIrala (talk) 01:08, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
