The Kremlin announced that President Vladimir Putin of Russia held a phone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the situation surrounding Ukraine.
The discussion took place in the context of the ongoing debate around the peace plan proposed by the United States. Putin reaffirmed Moscow's interest in resolving the conflict through political and diplomatic means.
"There was an exchange of views on the situation around Ukraine, including in the context of the American proposals for a peaceful settlement. Vladimir Putin noted that these proposals, in the form in which we have reviewed them, follow the line of discussions held during the Russian-American summit in Alaska and can, in principle, form the basis for a final peace settlement,” the Kremlin stated.
Erdoğan expressed his intention to support the negotiation process and confirmed his readiness to provide Istanbul as a platform for further meetings. The leaders agreed to intensify Russian-Turkish contacts on the "Ukrainian dossier” across various channels.
The conversation also covered cooperation between Moscow and Ankara, with an emphasis on expanding trade and investment ties and advancing strategically important projects in the energy sector. The presidents agreed to maintain regular communication.
