DESCRIPTION

- Provide labor & spare parts to carry out servicing on both port & starboard main engine brand
Yanmar model 3TNV88.
- Coordinated with person in charge, carry out walk around & visual inspection for any external
damage.
- Task performed as follows for both main engine;

HEAT EXCHANGER SERVICING

- Inspect heat exchanger core & outside housing.


- No visible defect.
- Proceed to chemical cleaning & pressure wash.
- Prepare core for pressure test.
- Pressure tested at maximum 1 bar. No leak.
- Re-fitted back to engine.

FUEL PUMP RECONDITION

- Fuel pump was removed out from the engine.


- Proceed to service fuel pump due to service hours.
- Dismantle fuel pump, inspect internal component for wear & tear.
- Proceed to replace new all wear & tear parts.
- Calibrate fuel pump operating pressure.
- Install reconditioned fuel pumps to engine with new seals.

FUEL INJECTORS RECONDITION

- Remove valve cover & remove out injector & valve mechanism group.
- The fuel injectors were removed from the engine.
- A visual inspection showed no abnormalities from the original injector assembly operation.
- Proceed to service all fuel injector units.
- Dismantle fuel injectors, inspect wear & tear parts & replace new wear & tear parts.
- Calibrate injectors opening pressure on bench test.
- Reconditioned fuel injector units installed on engine with new seals.

SEA WATER PUMP INSPECTION

- Sea water pump was removed out from the engines.


- Sea water pump external condition inspected. Found in good condition.
- Internal parts were found within wear limit; with normal wear marks.
- Inspected sea water pump was re-installed.
- Sea water pump output & temperature was monitored.

COOLANT PUMP REPLACEMENT

- Coolant pump was removed out from the engines.


- Water pump was found exceeded wear limit.
- Proceed for new assembly replacement.
- New fresh water pump was installed & retaining bolts torqued.
- Fresh water temperature was monitored.

OIL COOLER CORE SERVICING

- Oil cooler core was removed out from the engine.


- Cores were chemical cleaned & inspected. OK.
- Pressure test at maximum 4.5 bar.
- Reconditioned oil cooler cores were re-fitted with new gaskets.

ELECTRIC STARTING MOTOR RECONDITION

- Electric starter motor was removed out from the engines.


- Dismantled for inspection & servicing.
- Proceed to replace wear & tear parts.
- Reconditioned electric starting motor were installed.

CHARGING ALTERNATOR RECONDITION

- Charging alternator was removed out from the engines.


- Dismantled for inspection & servicing.
- Proceed to replace wear & tear parts.
- Installed reconditioned charging alternator & adjust alternator belt.

MECHANICAL TUNE-UP

- Remove valve cover & remove out injector & valve mechanism group.
- Absence of unusual scuffing on reciprocating components.
- Perform valve lash setting.
- Clean valve cover from any foreign matter.
- Re-fit valve cover as it is conditions

SAFETY SHUTDOWN TEST

- To conduct safety shutdown test, which includes the following:


- High water temperature alarm and shutdown tested and functioning.
- Low lube oil pressure alarm and shutdown tested and functioning.
- Over-speed alarm and shutdown tested and functioning.
- Emergency stop alarm and shutdown tested and functioning.
- All gauges and parameters are in working condition.

SEA TRIAL

- On first attempt the engine was started at rated RPM and was run in for 10 Mins and during this
period all the parameters like pressure and temperature were monitored and all were found within
normal operating range.
- Load tested to maximum available load from vessel to Chief Engineer’s requirement. All the
parameters during the load trial were monitored. The parameters were found in working range.
- After the load test, a general inspection was carried out to confirm the proper lubrication, no
scuffing of internal reciprocating parts.
- The load trial has been performed in order to test engine performances to customer satisfaction.

STATUS: ENGINE IS OPERATIONAL
